Overview

This document is a user manual for the Samsung QLED TV Q7F. It provides comprehensive information on the TV's functions, installation, and maintenance.

Function Description

The Samsung QLED TV Q7F is a television designed to deliver a high-quality viewing experience. It features an e-Manual embedded within the product, offering detailed information and assistance. The TV supports various connectivity options, including wireless and wired network connections, allowing access to online services like Smart Hub and enabling software updates. It also supports mobile network connectivity via a separately sold Mobile Dongle. The TV is equipped with a Samsung Smart Remote for intuitive control, including voice interaction, a number pad, directional controls, playback functions, and quick access to the Smart Hub. The TV includes an Eco Sensor that automatically adjusts screen brightness to optimize power consumption based on ambient light conditions.

Usage Features

Before Use: It is recommended to read both the provided user manual for product safety, installation, accessories, initial configuration, and specifications, and the embedded e-Manual for more detailed information. The e-Manual can be accessed via Settings > Support > Open e-Manual.

e-Manual Assistance Functions: The e-Manual offers several assistance functions:

  • Search: Allows users to find specific topics and load the corresponding page.
  • Index (A-Z): Provides a keyword-based navigation to relevant pages.
  • Recent pages: Displays a list of recently viewed topics for quick access.
  • Try Now: Accesses associated menu items to try out features directly.
  • Link: Navigates to topics referred to on an e-Manual page.

Connecting the TV to the One Connect: The TV uses an "Invisible Connection" cable to connect to the One Connect box. Users must untie the cable from the TV, connect one end to the TV, and the other to the One Connect box. After connecting the Invisible Connection, both the TV and the One Connect box should be plugged into power outlets. It is crucial to use the Bending Cover to prevent the cable from bending at a 90-degree angle, ensure correct connector orientation, wind any remaining cable around the tube, and avoid twisting the cable to prevent damage or performance degradation. The Invisible Connection cable is a Class 1 Laser Product, so users should not stare into the beam, bend or cut cables excessively, place heavy objects on the cable, or disassemble the connector.

TV Installation: The TV can be mounted on a wall or placed on a stand.

  • Wall Mounting: If wall mounting, users must follow the manufacturer's instructions precisely to prevent the TV from falling. Wall mount adapters should be installed first if provided. Samsung is not responsible for damage or injury from self-installation or use of non-Samsung parts. The wall mount should be installed on a solid wall perpendicular to the floor. Standard VESA screw hole specifications are provided, and users should ensure screws are not too long or fastened too firmly. Always have two people for wall mounting.
  • Stand Installation: Ensure all accessories are present and follow the assembly instructions for the stand.
  • Safety Precaution (Anti-fall): To prevent the TV from falling, especially with children around, it is recommended to secure the TV to the wall using brackets and a durable string. The TV should be placed on recommended furniture that can safely support its weight, without overhanging edges. If placed on tall furniture, both the furniture and TV should be anchored.
  • Ventilation: Maintain at least 10 cm distance between the TV and other objects (walls, cabinet sides) to ensure proper ventilation and prevent overheating.

The Samsung Smart Remote: The Smart Remote pairs automatically with the TV upon first use. If not, point it at the TV's remote control sensor and press and hold the Return and Play/pause buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds or more.

  • Power: Turns the TV on or off.
  • Voice Interaction: Activates voice commands; press, speak, and release.
  • Number pad (123): Displays a number strip for channel changes, PIN entry, or ZIP codes. Long press for TTX menu.
  • Colour buttons: Access additional options specific to the current feature.
  • Directional pad: Moves focus and changes values in menus.
  • Select: Selects or runs focused items; displays program info when watching content.
  • Return: Returns to the previous menu; long press terminates running functions; shows previous channel when watching a program.
  • VOL (Volume): Adjusts volume up/down; press to mute; long press for Accessibility Shortcuts menu.
  • CH (Channel): Changes channels up/down; press for Guide screen.
  • Smart Hub: Returns to the Home Screen.

Initial Setup: The initial setup dialogue box appears when the TV is first activated. This process can also be initiated manually via Settings > General > Start Setup.

Using the TV Controller: The TV Controller button at the bottom of the TV can turn on the TV and access the Control Menu when the TV is on. The Control Menu includes options for Power off, Volume Up/Down, Channel Up/Down, and Source selection.

Network Connection:

  • Wireless: Connects to the internet via a standard router or modem.
  • Wired: Connects to the network using a LAN cable (Cat7 STP Type recommended). The TV does not support network speeds less than or equal to 10 Mbps.
  • Mobile Network: Requires a separately sold Mobile Dongle inserted into a USB port. Using a large mobile dongle may require a USB extension cable to prevent interference.

Maintenance Features

Troubleshooting:

  • General Issues: Consult the e-Manual's Troubleshooting Section or Samsung Support website. Keep the TV software updated via Settings > Support > Software Update.
  • TV Won't Turn On: Check AC power cord connection, wall outlet functionality, and the power indicator light. Try the Power button on the TV itself.
  • No Picture/Sound or Distorted Output: Verify device connections and cable insertion. Reconnect all cables, try new ones if possible. Confirm correct input source (Source). Perform a TV self-diagnosis (Settings > Support > Self Diagnosis > Start Picture Test or Start Sound Test). Reboot connected devices. Run Auto Tuning if not connected to a cable/satellite box (Settings > Broadcasting > Auto Tuning).
  • Remote Control Not Working: Check power indicator on TV when pressing remote buttons. Replace batteries (AAA type, correct polarity). Point remote directly at TV from 1.5-1.8m. If using a Samsung Smart Remote (Bluetooth), ensure it is paired.
  • Cable/Satellite Box Remote Not Controlling TV: Program the cable/satellite box remote with the SAMSUNG TV code.
  • TV Settings Lost After 5 Minutes: Change Usage Mode from Retail Mode to Home Mode (Settings > General > System Manager > Usage Mode > Home Mode).
  • Intermittent Wi-Fi: Check network connection (Settings > General > Network > Network Status). Ensure Wi-Fi password is correct. Maintain distance (under 15.2m) between TV and Modem/Router. Reduce interference from other wireless devices or obstacles. Contact ISP to reset network circuit for MAC address re-registration.
  • Video App Problems (e.g., YouTube): Change DNS to 8.8.8.8 (Settings > General > Network > Network Status > IP Settings > DNS setting > Enter manually > DNS Server). Reset Smart Hub (Settings > Support > Self Diagnosis > Reset Smart Hub).

Remote Support: Samsung offers one-on-one remote support where a technician can diagnose, adjust settings, perform factory resets, and install firmware updates. To use, call Samsung Contact Centre, go to Support > Remote Management on the TV, agree to terms, and provide the PIN to the agent.

Eco Sensor and Screen Brightness: The Eco Sensor automatically adjusts brightness to save power. If the screen is too dark in a dark environment, check Settings > General > Eco Solution > Ambient Light Detection. Do not block the sensor.

Still Image Warning: Avoid prolonged display of still images (e.g., JPEG files, channel logos, news crawls, panorama/4:3 formats) to prevent image burn-in. Recommendations include:

  • Avoid displaying the same TV channel for long periods.
  • Always try to display images in full screen using the picture format menu.
  • Reduce brightness and contrast.
  • Use all TV features designed to reduce image retention and screen burn (refer to e-Manual).

Caring for the TV:

  • Cleaning Screen: Turn off the TV. Gently wipe smudges and fingerprints with a soft, dry micro-fiber cloth. For stubborn smudges, dampen the cloth with a small amount of water or screen cleaner. Do not apply strong force. Do not use flammable liquids (benzene, thinner, alcohol, insecticides, aerial fresheners, lubricants, detergents) as they can damage the TV.
  • Cleaning Exterior: Wipe with a soft, dry cloth.
  • General: Do not spray water or any liquid directly onto the TV.
  • Batteries: Do not dispose of batteries in a fire, short-circuit, disassemble, or overheat them. Replace with the same or equivalent type.

Environmental Considerations: The product is RoHS compliant. The marking on the product indicates that it should not be disposed of with household waste. It should be separated for recycling to promote sustainable reuse of material resources. Contact local authorities or Samsung for disposal/recycling information.

Power Consumption: To decrease power consumption, unplug the power cord when the TV is not in use for extended periods.
