This document describes the features, usage, and maintenance of a Samsung LED TV, specifically from the Series 6.
The Samsung LED TV offers a range of features designed to enhance the entertainment experience:
Remote Control: The TV comes with a standard remote control featuring Braille points on the Power, Channel, and Volume buttons for visually impaired users. Key buttons include SOURCE, MUTE, VOLUME, CHANNEL, MENU, TOOLS, INFO, CH LIST, RETURN, GUIDE, and EXIT. The remote allows direct access to channels, adjusts volume, changes channels, displays channel lists, opens the OSD (Menu), and provides quick access to frequently used functions. It also includes buttons for Smart Hub applications, EPG (Electronic Programme Guide), and on-screen information. Special function buttons are available for SEARCH, STATUS, MORE (virtual remote), E-MANUAL, RECOMMEND, and AD/SUBT.
Turning On the TV: The TV can be turned on using the power button on the remote control or the TV's controller, a small joystick-like button located on the rear right side of the TV.
Initial Setup: Upon first activation, an initial setup dialog guides users through language selection, channel scanning, network connection, and other settings. This process can also be performed manually later via the Screen Menu > System > Setup. If an HDMI device is connected before setup, the Channel Source may automatically default to "Settop box."
Samsung 'On TV' Recommendations Service: To use this service, an Internet connection is required. Users configure their TV source (Aerial or Set-top box), auto-tune channels (if Aerial is selected), select a service provider by entering their postcode, and perform a Set-top Box Control Test to ensure remote control compatibility.
Switching Video Sources: Pressing the SOURCE button displays a list of available video sources. The "Tools" button provides access to functions like "Information" (view device details), "Edit Name" (rename connected devices for easier identification, e.g., PC, DVI PC, DVI Devices), "Anynet+ (HDMI-CEC)" (lists compatible devices), and "Disconnect USB Device" (safely remove USB devices).
Universal Remote Control Setup: The TV features a universal remote control function to operate external devices like cable boxes, Blu-ray players, and AV receivers. To set this up, users press the SOURCE button, select "Universal remote setup," and follow on-screen instructions. An IR Extender is provided, which should be placed at least 5 cm from the external device, facing its remote control signal receiver, ensuring no obstacles interfere with the signal transmission.
Connecting to a COMMON INTERFACE Slot: For paid channels, a "CI or CI+ CARD" must be inserted into the COMMON INTERFACE slot using the provided CI Card Adapter. The adapter should be attached before wall-mounting. If the card is not inserted, channels may display "Scrambled Signal." Pairing information will be displayed, and an error message may require contacting the service provider.
Network Connection: Connecting the Smart TV to a network provides access to Smart Hub services and software updates.
Watching 3D Video: To watch 3D content, users must wear 3D Active Glasses and activate the 3D mode in the TV's Picture menu.
e-Manual Updates: The e-Manual can be updated through the Smart Hub by navigating to Apps > More Apps > Apps to update and selecting e-Manual.
Storage and Cleaning:
Ventilation: Maintain at least 10 cm clearance between the TV and other objects (walls, cabinet sides) to ensure proper ventilation and prevent overheating, which can lead to product problems or fire. Samsung-provided parts are recommended for stands or wall mounts to ensure stability and prevent injury.
Eco Sensor and Screen Brightness: The Eco Sensor measures ambient light and automatically adjusts screen brightness to reduce power consumption. This can cause the TV to brighten or dim. Users can enable or disable this feature in Screen Menu > System > Eco Solution > Eco Sensor. If the screen appears too dark in a dark room, the Eco Sensor may be the cause. Do not block the sensor.
Tip Prevention – Securing the TV to the Wall: To prevent the TV from falling, especially with children around, it should be secured to the wall.
3D Active Glasses Maintenance:
Still Image Warning: Avoid displaying still images (e.g., JPEG files, TV channel logos, news bars, panorama, or 4:3 formats) for extended periods to prevent image burn-in on the LED screen. To reduce this risk:
Firmware Updates: To maintain optimal TV condition, upgrade to the latest firmware from the Samsung website via USB.
