7-12. CLEAN ING IN DUC TION SYS TEM - RE PLAC ING FIL TER
The fil ter re moves all for eign ma te rial from the air be fore it en ters
the in duc tion sys tem. The fil ter el e ment ma te rial is foam, and is in -
stalled in the ple num cham ber lo cated in the bot tom of the lower for -
ward fair ing. If foam fil ter is dirty, it must be re placed; max i mum
foam fil ter life is 200 hours.
Note
: A daily clean ing and in spec tion of the fil ter sys -
tem is rec om mended when the he li cop ter is op er ated in
an ex tremely dusty en vi ron ment.
1. Re lease camlock fas ten ers se cur ing in duc tion air fil ter hous ing.
Re move hous ing from chin fair ing. Re move fil ter from hous ing.
2. Vi su ally in spect fil ter el e ment for dents, tears, or other phys i cal
dam age.
3. Use soft cloth to re move for eign ma te rial from in side in duc tion
air fil ter hous ing cover as sem bly.
4. Vi su ally in spect the ple num cham ber, by pass door, and as so ci -
ated com po nents.
CAU TION
If fil ter is not in proper po si tion, un fil tered air may
en ter ple num cham ber, caus ing dam age to air in -
duc tion sys tem and en gine. Use ex treme care when
in stall ing fil ter.
5. In stall fil ter in air fil ter hous ing. In sert hous ing in chin fair ing
and se cure camlock fas ten ers.
6. Check that by pass door is closed and seals.
7. Check carb heat door op er ates and seals.
