This document is an installation, operation, and care manual for Scientific Laboratory Equipment's Steam Bath models 401 and 402.
Function Description
The Scientific Steam Bath is a laboratory instrument designed for continuous operation, providing a controlled heating environment through steam. It is primarily used to heat samples or solutions in a laboratory setting. The unit features a tank assembly where water is heated to produce steam, and a tray with multiple stations (6 for Model 401, 12 for Model 402) to accommodate various containers. The automatic water level control device ensures consistent operation, while a manual reset safety thermostat protects the heating element from running dry.

Usage Features
Installation:
- Install the unit in a convenient location for ease of cleaning, maintenance, and general operation.
- Ensure the surface where the unit is placed is level.
- If positioned near a wall or partition, ensure these are made of non-combustible heat insulating material, adhering to fire prevention regulations.
- The unit is equipped with an automatic water level control device for ease of use.
- The manual reset safety thermostat provides protection for the element if the bath runs dry.
Operation:
- The unit is designed for continuous operation.
- It is intended for use by properly trained laboratory staff.
- Always use earthed outlets matching the serial plate voltage.
- Equipment should be installed by qualified personnel in accordance with local codes and ordinances.
- Do not operate the equipment if it is damaged or malfunctioning.
Safety Precautions:
- Burn Hazard: Hot surfaces and liquids can cause burns. Allow surfaces to cool before handling.
- Electric Shock Hazard: Prevent water and other liquids from entering the equipment's interior. Do not spray water or cleaning products directly onto the unit.
- Do not use the equipment if the power cord is damaged or modified.
- Ensure the equipment and power supply cord do not come into contact with hot surfaces.
