Required Maintenance

Your Scion requires the following regularly scheduled maintenance at the
interval indicated on page 25.
O I L & FI LT E R S E R V I CE
Replace engine oil & filter.
Remove & inspect air filter element (Replace if needed).
Lubricate locks, latches & hinges.
Inspect lights, horn & wipers for proper function.
Inspect coolant, brake & washer fluid levels.
Inspect tires & adjust pressure as required, including spare. Rotate
tires if needed.

Replace engine oil & filter.
Remove & inspect air filter element (Replace if needed).
Clean cabin air filter mesh (iQ).
Lubricate locks, latches & hinges.
Inspect lights, horn & wipers for proper function.
Inspect coolant, brake, and washer fluid levels.
Inspect automatic transmission, manual transmission and
differential for leaks.
Perform battery service and comprehensive electrical charging
system evaluation.
Inspect valve clearance audibly.
Inspect drive belts for damage. Adjust belt tension if required.
Inspect steering linkage and suspension parts for looseness,
damage or leakage.
Inspect ball joints & dust covers, drive shaft and steering rack
boots, chassis nuts & bolts for looseness or damage.
Remove wheel and brake drum if equipped. Inspect brake
linings, drums, pads, rotors, calipers, lines and hoses.
Inspect exhaust system, fuel lines & connections, fuel tank
vapour vent system hoses, fuel tank bands and fuel tank cap
gasket.
Inspect tires & adjust pressure as required, including spare.
Rotate tires if needed.
Road test.
S P E C I A L O P E R AT I N G CO N D I T I O N S
If you primarily operate your vehicle under any of the following
conditions, please refer to additional maintenance requirements, shown
below:
1. Short trips of less than 5 km (or less than 8 km in temperatures
below 0°C).
2. Using a car top carrier.
3. Driving on dusty or muddy roads.
4. Frequent mountainous driving.
A D D I T I O N A L M A IN T E N A N C E RE Q U I R E M E N T S
Inspect brakes, steering and suspension components every
6 months/8,000 km.
Inspect driveshaft boots and body/chassis bolts, every
6 months/8,000 km.
Change manual transmission and differential fluids every
24 months/32,000 km.
Replace automatic transmission fluid every 72 months/96,000 km
(for condition # 2 above only).
