4. Battery
General
o Charge the battery before use. The recharging time of an empty battery is about 14 hours. The
temperature of the battery to be recharged must be +10 °C...+ 30 °C.
o Recharging should always take place at a room temperature of about +20 °C, in a dry place
shielded from dust and direct sunlight.
o Always use the Autofl ow’s own battery, recharging device and transformer (which are delivered
with the blower unit).
o The battery can also be charged partially. By one hour recharge the battery will operate from 2 to 4
hours. The operating period of the battery depends on e.g. breathing resistance (load).
Note!
o In too cold/warm an environment the the recharging device will suppress the charging current to
standby level, so the battery will not be charged.
o A new battery or a battery stored for a longer period may not function stably, which will terminate
the recharging prematurely. Monitor the signal lights during the fi rst few rechargings and initiate
the recharging several times if needed.
o Never recharge in a potentially explosive environment!
o Discarded batteries are hazardous waste. Make sure that they are disposed of according to waste
treatment regulations.
Recharging
• Connect the transformer to the main power supply (220-240 V/ 50 Hz) and to the recharging
device Æ both signal lights on the recharger will turn on. The signal light on the left will turn off
after ca 5 seconds but the one on the right will remain on.
• Connect the battery to the recharger Æ the left signal light will turn on again.
• Throughout the recharging, both signal lights will remain on. The time needed depends on the
battery status.
• Recharging is complete when the right signal light goes out, and the left remains burning (standby
level).
5. Start-up
• See Instructions for Use of the facepiece and the fi lter to be used.
• Always use 2 fi lters of the same type and class.
• Insert the charged battery into the blower device, ensuring that the battery locks fi rmly.
Check before use
• intactness of facepiece and blower device
• fi lters are intact and properly fastened to the blower device. Shake the fi lter to ensure that there are
no loose components/contents. The fi lter shall be replaced if it has been exposed to strong press
or impact. It may be damaged.
• breathing hose is tightly fi xed to the blower device and facepiece
• adequate air fl ow as follows:
- Assemble all items ready for use (facepiece connected) but do not don the unit.
- Start the blower.
- The air fl ow is suffi cient if if the blower’s red signal light goes out after the device is switched
on.
