SDREAM E-bike User FAQ

Overview

This document is the owner's manual for the SDREAM X Electric Bicycle (e-bike), providing essential information for safe operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting. It emphasizes the importance of reading the manual carefully before riding, especially for new users, and recommends not riding on public roads until familiar with the product's performance. The manual should be kept properly for future reference.

The SDREAM X e-bike is designed with a folding mechanism, making it convenient for storage and transport. To fold the bike, first loosen the handlebar clamp and fold the handlebar. Next, hold the knob under the frame while loosening the folding clamp in the middle of the frame, then fold the bike frame in half. Finally, press the pedals inward and push them up to a 90-degree angle. Once these steps are confirmed, the folding process is complete.

The e-bike features a comprehensive display that provides various operational details. Before turning on the display, ensure the battery power is activated by pressing the button on the battery, located on the left side of the bike. The display indicates "Walk Assist," "Error code," "Battery indication," "Light indication," "Service tool connection," "Power output indication," "Speed info.," and "Other display info." It also shows "PAS levels" (Pedal Assist System levels). The display has a power-on button, an "M" button for mode selection, and "Adjust up & down" buttons.

To use the display, a long press of the power button turns it on or off. The display automatically turns off after 5 minutes of inactivity. Pedal assist levels (0-6 PAS levels) can be switched using short presses of the up and down buttons. When the PAS level is empty, there is no pedal assist power output. The "M" button allows cycling through information such as TRIP, ODO (odometer), and RANGE. The light control function can be changed manually by long-pressing the light button; however, this disables the auto light function, which can be reactivated by shutting down and restarting the display. The display also provides real-time speed, average speed (AVG), and maximum speed (MAX) indications. For walk assist, when the speed is below 6 km/h, a long press and hold of the down button activates walk assist mode, where the motor provides power according to a set speed. Releasing the button or pressing any other button exits walk assist mode.

Before riding, turn on the battery and the display, confirming everything is normal and the battery is full. Engage the first or a higher gear, pedal a few times to activate pedal assist, and then engage the throttle. The throttle, located on the right side of the handlebar, allows the rider to propel the bike without pedaling. It should be rotated slowly and carefully towards the rider; the more it's twisted, the more powerful the motor's propulsion. Releasing the throttle or applying the brakes disengages the throttle. It's crucial to keep one hand on the brake lever to disengage the throttle if needed or to turn off the bike to prevent accidental engagement. Users should be aware that throttle and motor use may be restricted in certain areas, and it's their responsibility to comply with local e-bike regulations.

The manual also includes a list of error codes that may appear on the display if a fault is detected. These codes, such as "04" (throttle doesn't return to zero), "05" (throttle failure), "07" (overvoltage protection), "08" (motor's hall signal wire failure), "09" (motor's phase wire failure), "11" (motor's temperature sensor failure), "12" (current sensor failure), "13" (battery temperature failure), "14" (controller temperature too high), "21" (speed sensor failure), "22" (BMS communication failure), and "30" (communication failure), each have a suggested operation for troubleshooting, such as checking the throttle, battery voltage, motor, controller, or connectors. For additional information, users are advised to contact support@sdream.bike.

The battery and charger are integral components of the e-bike. The battery case includes a charging jack, battery status button, battery status indicator, and a battery keyhole. To check the battery's power, press the battery status button; the indicator light will show green for 100%-80% charge, yellow for 80%-20%, and red for less than 20%.

Charging can be done with or without disassembling the battery. For charging without disassembly, open the dust cover on the left side of the e-bike, plug the charging plug into the battery's charging jack, and connect the charger power plug to a socket of the specified voltage. The charger indicator will display "Red" during charging and turn "Green" when fully charged, which typically takes 3-8 hours.

For charging with disassembly, fold the middle part of the bike, use the battery lock key to release the fixing device between the battery and the body, and carefully pull out the lithium battery. Then, connect the charger power plug to the socket and insert the charging plug into the battery's charging jack. The charger indicator will display "Red" during charging and turn "Green" when fully charged. The charger itself has an indicator and a charger shell, with a power plug and a charging plug.

Several important cautions regarding battery and charger use are provided. Only the official charger should be used, and it must be well-connected to the battery connector to prevent faults and reduced battery life. Charging should occur in a ventilated environment, away from direct sunlight, closed spaces, or high temperatures. The charging time should be at least 3 hours, with an additional 1-2 hours after the indicator turns green to ensure a 100% charge. The battery must be charged within 24 hours of being completely drained and needs 3-10 hours of charge before initial use. It's crucial not to completely drain the battery during riding, and to charge it as soon as the last bar of the display's battery indicator appears to avoid affecting battery life. Storing a completely drained battery for a long time is forbidden, as it can reduce capacity by 5% if left uncharged for over a month. If the e-bike is not used for an extended period, it's recommended to charge the battery once a month to prolong its life and prevent electricity loss. The charger and battery should be kept in a stable, dry, non-flammable, and explosive-free place, away from children. It's normal for the charger temperature to rise during charging, as long as it doesn't exceed 55°C/140°F. Metal objects should be kept away from the charging port to prevent short-circuiting. After charging, unplug the charger from the socket first, then disconnect it from the battery. Waste batteries must not be discarded randomly or disassembled.

The SDREAM X e-bike comes with a Limited One Year Warranty for the SDREAM 750S model, providing free warranty parts (excluding consumables like tires, inner tubes, brake pads, chains) and technical support. Out-of-warranty or non-warranty services will be charged. The warranty does not cover faults caused by user non-compliance with the manual, random disassembly or repair, improper storage, accidents, force majeure (floods, fires), normal wear and tear, or parts damaged by disassembly beyond specified instructions.

The manual also addresses frequently asked questions. The five battery bars on the display represent battery capacity, with all bars bright at high voltage and needing recharge at 0%. Charging time is at least 3 hours, with an additional 1-2 hours after the indicator turns green for a full charge. For long-term storage, the battery should be charged once a month to prevent capacity loss. Charger heating during charging is normal if it stays below 55°C/140°F. The battery is removable. Electric assist mode is activated by setting the assist level to more than 1, pedaling for half a circle, and triggering the sensor. Models with a throttle can use it for assistance. The bike can still be ridden like a regular bike if the battery runs out. The e-bike has 7-speed Shimano shifting gears for different terrains and weather conditions; low gear for starting and uphill, high gear for medium and high-speed riding. A brake power-off system is included, which forcibly powers off the assist system when the brake lever is held and resumes when released. Maximum mileage is approximately 24-50 miles (40-80 kilometers), varying with bike model, riding modes, rider weight, riding conditions, tire pressure, and wind resistance. Cassette rusting, common for steel components exposed to water, can be cleaned with rust remover. The warranty policy for the SDREAM 750S is one year, covering free warranty parts and technical support, with charges for out-of-warranty services. Users are encouraged to send advice and suggestions to service@sdu.bike.
