The Sealey TL95 is a diesel converter box designed to detect pulses from the fuel pipes of diesel fuel injectors, enabling the use of standard timing lights, engine analyzers, and multi-meters with inductive pick-ups on diesel engines. It is suitable for most direct injection diesel engines equipped with 6mm (1/4") to 10mm (3/8") external fuel pipes.
The primary function of the TL95 is to convert the mechanical pulse generated by fuel flowing through a diesel injector pipe into an electrical signal that can be read by an inductive pick-up device. This allows for accurate engine timing and RPM measurement on diesel engines, which typically lack the spark plug ignition systems that conventional timing lights rely on. The device works by clamping a Piezo sensor onto the fuel pipe, which detects the pressure wave created by fuel injection. This signal is then processed by the converter box and outputted through a pick-up loop, where an inductive pick-up from a timing light or other monitoring device can be attached. An indicator light on the converter box provides visual confirmation of a consistent signal.
