1. To lift cowling, grasp ea ch si de of cowling at
rear and pu il outwad :l and upward. Lift cowling
to its ext reme op en pos it ion.

2. Engine crankcase is shipped with oi I ready for
use. However check oil l evel befor e s tarting . If
n?cessary, add oil to bring oil le v el up to the full
od mark on the dipstick . Dipstic k mus t be screwed
in tight for checking oil lev e l, and tra ctor should
be level. Oi I cap a city is 2Y2 pints. N OTE: Do not
fill above full mark on dipstick . E ngin e must be
stopped when checking oi I leve l. Us e Al l state
Regular M.S. S.A.E. # 30 oil or eq uiva len t. If not
available, use Allstate Multi-gra de al l weather
oil S.A. E. 10W-20W-30W or eq uivale nt. NOTE:
Use S.A.E. lOW oil below 32 degree s.

Fill fuel tank with regular grade of clean fresh
gasoline, and open fuel shut off valve located
near carburetor .
CAUTION: Before starting the en gi ne, check to see
that the controls are as follows :

Transmission gear shift lever must be in n eu tr al.
Neutral is when gear shift lever is f ree to mo ve
forward and
backwards . It w.il l opera te s imi lar to
an automobile. See Fig. 4, page 4.

he ignition and starter key is loc ated on L.H.
si de;; of dashboard. Tum key cl o ckwise to engage
star ter . When engine start s, r ele ase key. After
en gi ne starts push in choke con trol as en gin e

arms up. Let engine warm up before apply ing
l
oad.
CAUTION: Do not run starter cont inuo usly for more
than
30 seconds at a time. If aft e r s everal a tt empts,
eng ine does not start, move throttle control l eve r to
FAST position. Wait for two minutes and try again.
4. After e ng i ne starts, move engi ne cont rol lever to
FAST pos i tion.
5. To stop engine turn key in a c ounter-clockwise
direction to off posit i on. Key c an be removed so
chi l dren cannot start trac tor.
