Overview

This document provides a comprehensive guide for the SENCOR portable air conditioner models SAC MT9020C, SAC MT1220C, SAC MT1224CH, and SAC MT1225CH. It covers important safety instructions, a detailed description of the appliance and its accessories, control panel and remote control functions, installation procedures, operating modes, and maintenance guidelines.

Function Description

The SENCOR portable air conditioner is designed to provide cooling, heating (for SAC MT1224CH and SAC MT1225CH models), dehumidification, and fan-only operation for indoor spaces. It is intended for use in homes, offices, and similar environments, offering a versatile solution for climate control. The appliance features a self-contained cooling circuit that uses R290 refrigerant gas, an environmentally friendly option. Its portability, facilitated by travel wheels, allows for flexible placement within a room. The unit can operate in various modes to suit different user preferences and environmental conditions, including automatic modes that adjust operation based on room temperature.

Usage Features

The portable air conditioner offers multiple operating modes and convenient functions:

  • Cooling Mode: Users can set a desired temperature range from 18 to 32 °C and select fan speeds (High, Medium, Low, Auto) to achieve optimal cooling.
  • Heating Mode (SAC MT1224CH and SAC MT1225CH only): These models allow for heating with a temperature range of 13 to 27 °C (or 10-25 °C via remote control). Similar to cooling, fan speed can be adjusted. During heating, condensate accumulates in an internal tank, requiring drainage when full (indicated by "FE" on the display). The unit also features an automatic defrost function for very cold rooms, indicated by "L" on the display.
  • Fan Mode: This mode circulates air without cooling or heating. Users can select fan speeds (High, Medium, Low) without setting a temperature. The flexible air exhaust hose is not required in this mode.
  • Dehumidification Mode: This mode reduces humidity in the room. The fan speed is automatically set, and temperature adjustment is not possible. The flexible air exhaust hose must be connected and directed out of a window for this mode.
  • Automatic Mode: The appliance intelligently selects an operating mode (cooling, heating, or fan) based on the room temperature. For models without heating, it cools if the room is above 23 °C and runs in fan mode if below. For models with heating, it heats if below 20 °C, runs in fan mode between 20-23 °C, and cools if above 23 °C.
  • Automatic Start Function: Users can program the air conditioner to turn on automatically at a set time, ranging from 30 minutes to 24 hours. This is set using the TIMER button on the control panel or remote control.
  • Automatic Shut-off Function: Similarly, the appliance can be programmed to turn off automatically after a set period, from 30 minutes to 24 hours.
  • Sleep Function: This feature optimizes power consumption during the night. In cooling mode, the temperature gradually increases by 2 °C over two hours and maintains it for 6 hours before shutting off. In heating mode, the temperature decreases by 3 °C over three hours and maintains it for 5 hours before shutting off. This function is not available in fan or dehumidification modes.
  • Flap Angle Setting Function: The remote control allows users to adjust the air flow direction (left or right).
  • Temperature Unit Change: The display can toggle between Celsius (°C) and Fahrenheit (°F) units.

The appliance is controlled via a control panel located on the unit and a remote control. Both offer similar functionalities for mode selection, temperature adjustment, fan speed, and timer settings. The remote control requires two AAA/LR03 batteries and should be used within a 7-meter range without obstructions.

Installation

Proper installation is crucial for safe and efficient operation:

  • Location: Place the unit on an even, dry, and stable surface, ensuring it is within reach of a grounded power socket. Maintain a minimum distance of 45 cm from walls or other obstacles for optimal airflow. Keep windows, doors, blinds, and drapes closed during operation. Avoid high-humidity rooms, areas with open flames, or heat sources.
  • Flexible Air Exhaust Hose: For cooling, dehumidification, or automatic modes, the flexible air exhaust hose must be connected to the air inlet A5 and directed out of a window. The document describes using a textile window gasket seal (B7) for tilt-open, sash, and roof windows, which facilitates easy installation of the hose and allows the window to close even with the gasket installed. The hose should be extended to the required length, and the end piece (B3) and window outlet (B2) attached.
  • Power Connection: Connect the appliance only to a properly grounded socket. Do not use extension cords or plug other appliances into the same socket. Ensure the power cord is not covered or placed under furniture.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and efficiency of the air conditioner:

  • Cleaning the Outer Case: Use a soft, damp cloth with lukewarm water and neutral detergent to wipe the surface dry. Avoid spraying water directly on the unit or using abrasive cleaning products.
  • Cleaning the Air Filters: The air filters, located behind the protective grilles of the top (A7) and bottom (A9) air inlets, should be cleaned at least every 14 days. They can be vacuumed or hand-washed with lukewarm water and neutral detergent, then air-dried naturally. Never operate the unit without properly installed or wet filters.
  • Condensate Drainage: When the internal condensate tank is full (indicated by "Ft" on the display), it must be drained. The manual provides instructions for both manual drainage using a container and continuous drainage by connecting a drain hose (B6) to a waste water drain. The drain hose should be installed at the same height or lower than the top drain outlet (A8) for proper drainage.
  • Storage: Before storing, run the unit in fan mode for approximately 12 hours to dry the internal system and prevent mold. Drain all condensate, clean the air filters, wipe the outer case, and remove batteries from the remote control. Store in a cool, dry, and dark location.
  • Troubleshooting: The manual includes a troubleshooting section with common error messages ("LE" for low temperature/defrosting, "PF" for heat sensor defect, "FE" for full condensate tank) and solutions, as well as a table addressing general operational issues like the unit not turning on, running for short periods, or not cooling effectively. Users are advised to contact an authorized service center for persistent problems.

Safety Warnings

The manual emphasizes critical safety warnings, including:

  • The appliance is suitable for children aged 8 and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities only with supervision or instruction.
  • Damaged power cords must be replaced by authorized service personnel.
  • The appliance must be stored to prevent mechanical damage and in a well-ventilated location without open flames or ignition sources.
  • Specific warnings for R290 refrigerant gas include ensuring the appliance is in a room larger than 14 m², not drilling or burning the unit, and preventing the collection of leaked refrigerants to avoid explosion or fire.
  • Maintenance and repair of cooling circuits must be performed by authorized and qualified personnel.
