The Sennheiser All-Day Clear OTC Hearing Aids, model ADC1, are designed for individuals aged 18 years or older with perceived mild to moderate hearing loss. These hearing aids amplify and transmit sound to the ears to compensate for hearing loss. They are intended for personal use only and should not be used by others, as this could damage hearing.
Important Warnings and Cautions:
- Age Restriction: Not for use by individuals younger than 18. Those under 18 with hearing loss should consult an ear-nose-throat (ENT) doctor for medical testing and management.
- Medical Consultation: Consult an ENT doctor if you experience any of the following:
- Ear birth defect or unusual shape.
- Ear injury or deformation from an accident.
- Blood, pus, or fluid coming from your ear in the past 6 months.
- Painful or uncomfortable ear.
- Excessive ear wax or foreign object in the ear.
- Sudden dizziness or vertigo.
- Sudden hearing change in the past 6 months.
- Fluctuating hearing (worsens then improves).
- Worse hearing in one ear.
- Ringing or buzzing in only one ear.
- Insertion Pain: The hearing aid should not cause pain during insertion. Remove immediately if pain or discomfort occurs and re-attempt insertion following instructions. If pain persists, contact the manufacturer or a hearing healthcare professional. Report adverse events to the FDA.
- Not Hearing Protection: This device is not hearing protection. Remove it if you experience overly loud sounds. Use appropriate hearing protection in loud environments where earplugs would typically be used.
- Sound Output: The sound output should not be uncomfortable or painful. Turn down the volume or remove the device if sound is uncomfortably loud. Consistent need to reduce volume may indicate a need for device adjustment.
- Stuck Parts: If any part of the hearing aid (e.g., eartip) gets stuck in your ear and cannot be easily removed with fingers, seek medical help immediately. Do not use tweezers or cotton swabs, as this can push the part further into the ear, potentially causing serious injury.
- Professional Consultation: If you continue to struggle with or are concerned about your hearing after trying the device, consult a hearing healthcare professional.
- Hearing Aid Expectations: Hearing aids can benefit many with hearing loss but will not restore normal hearing. You may still have difficulty hearing over noise. They will not prevent or improve medical conditions causing hearing loss.
- FDA Reporting: Report any injuries, malfunctions, or other adverse events (e.g., skin irritation, injury from device, stuck parts, sudden worsening of hearing loss) to the FDA as soon as possible via http://www.fda.gov/Safety/MedWatch or by calling 1-800-FDA-1088.
- Lithium Batteries: The device uses lithium button/coin batteries, which are hazardous if swallowed. Keep out of reach of children, individuals with cognitive impairment, or pets. Seek immediate medical attention if ingestion is suspected. Rechargeable lithium-ion batteries are allowed on airplanes as carry-on luggage but not checked baggage.
- Modifications: Changes or modifications not explicitly approved by the manufacturer are not permitted and may damage your ear or the hearing aids.
- Normal Hearing: Hearing aids will not restore normal hearing or prevent/improve hearing impairment from organic conditions.
- Charging Accessory: Only authorized personnel should open the charging accessory due to electrical hazard.
- Explosive Areas: Do not use hearing aids or charging accessories in explosive areas (mines, industrial areas with explosion danger, oxygen-rich environments, or areas handling flammable anesthetics). The hearing aid is not ATEX certified.
- Electronic Equipment Restrictions: Do not use hearing aids in areas where electronic equipment is prohibited.
- Ear Pain/Irritation: If you experience pain in or behind your ear, inflammation, or accelerated ear wax accumulation, consult your hearing care professional or physician.
- Stuck Eartip/Dome: In rare cases, an eartip/dome or cerumen stop may remain in the ear canal upon removal. If this occurs, consult a physician for safe removal.
- Excess Ear Wax: Wearing these aids may cause excess ear wax buildup. Contact your licensed professional if this occurs.
- Directional Microphone Mode: Hearing programs with directional microphone mode reduce background noises. Be aware that warning signals or noises from behind (e.g., cars) may be partially or entirely suppressed.
- Small Parts: The hearing aid is small and contains small parts. Keep out of reach of children and individuals with cognitive impairment to prevent choking.
- Drying Capsule: If a drying capsule is swallowed, consult a physician or hospital immediately.
- Wire Connection: Do not make a wire connection from your hearing aids to any external audio sources like radio, as this could cause injuries (electric shock).
- Charging Case: Do not cover the whole charging case while charging.
- Medical Devices: This device is only applicable for persons with active implantable medical devices (e.g., pacemakers, defibrillators).
- Wireless Accessories: Keep wireless hearing aids, charging case, and accessories with magnets (e.g., cleaning brush) at least 15 cm (6 inches) away from the active implant.
- Interference: If you experience any interference, do not use the hearing aids or charging case and contact the manufacturer.
- Stacking Equipment: Use of this equipment adjacent to or stacked with other equipment should be avoided as it could result in improper operation.
- Power Supply: Only use the charging case and power supply provided by the manufacturer. Otherwise, the device(s) may be damaged.
- Accessories: Use of accessories, transducers, and cables other than those specified or provided by the manufacturer could result in increased electromagnetic emissions or decreased electromagnetic immunity.
- Flight Mode: Hearing aids operate in the 2.4 GHz-2.48 GHz range. Check flight operator requirements for devices to be switched into flight mode.
- RF Communications: Portable RF communications equipment should be used no closer than 30 cm (12 inches) to any part of the hearing aids.
- Electromagnetic Interference: The device has not been tested for known sources of electromagnetic interference (e.g., wireless power transfer systems, 5G cellular signals, security systems, metal detectors, MRI, CT, diathermy, RFID) and should not be used in conjunction with or in proximity to such technology.
- Earpiece/Receiver: Hearing aids should only be used with the designated earpiece and receiver.
- USB Port: The USB port of the charging case is for the described purpose only.
- Domes/Eartips/Wax Protection: Hearing aids should not be fitted with domes/eartips/wax protection systems when used by people with perforated eardrums, inflamed ear canals, or otherwise exposed middle ear cavities.
- Charger: For charger, use only IEC 60950-1, IEC 62368-1, or IEC 60601-1 certified equipment with an output rating of 5 VDC, Min. 500 mA.
- Hearing Deterioration: The majority of hearing aid users are not expected to experience hearing deterioration with regular use. A small group may be at risk after prolonged use.
- Microphone Inputs: Never wash microphone inputs, as this can damage their acoustic features.
- Cables/Cords: Cables and cords wrapped around the neck may cause strangulation. Do not leave the device unattended with children, individuals with cognitive impairment, or pets.
