©2020 Sentinel Gaming Systems 3 Quick Setup/Operations Guide Sentinel Mini 4.xx
First Time Sentinel Software Setup
Sentinel Setup program must be run to configure the Sentinel
1. From the Sentinel Login Screen press “8” on the keyboard and enter the User
8 password (must have been provided or entered previously) followed by the
<enter> key. Do not use the mouse. The screen will go blank and the Windows® system
will power up. If Windows fails to load and the system remains with a blank screen for more
than 60 seconds, unplug the computer from AC power, wait 30 seconds and plug back in. Wait
until the computer displays the Sentinel Login Screen. Repeat from Step 1. If it continues to fail,
refer to the Owners Guide or contact Sentinel Gaming Systems technical support.
2. Log into Windows® as the Admin user (default password is “password”) and wait for
the desktop to appear. Create additional Windows User(s) for the individuals using
the Sentinel (Settings, Accounts) leaving the Windows “Admin User. Run the
Windows Edge web browser and confirm you have internet access.
3. Double Click on the Icon “Sentinel Setup” on the Windows® desktop. You will
be required to approve that the program can make changes. Select “recommended” settings
and press <enter> when prompted to “press any key to continue”. After a delay, the web
browser will launch and a message will appear indicating success. If the program fails, check the
Owners Guide for further instructions.
4. Wait for the computer system to shut down automatically and for the Sentinel
System to restart completely. The advanced features of Study Mode and all screen capture
options are now enabled. If the Sentinel fails to reset automatically after about 30 seconds,
press and hold the front panel Reset Button for 6 seconds.
5. Test Study Mode - From the Sentinel Login Screen, press “s” for Study Mode. The
screen should change to say “Study Mode”. Press the front panel Power Button for 1 second.
Windows should load, log in to Windows. The screen will start to slow down dramatically after
about 45-60 seconds. Only the primary display is output in Study Mode. If Study Mode fails,
refer to on screen error messages for guidance.
6. Shut down Windows® and when the Sentinel Login Screen appears you are ready to go!
If Study Mode or screen image capture features fail at some point in the future, rerun these
steps or refer to the Owner’s Guide for troubleshooting information on how to restore these
programs and settings.
