©2020 Sentinel Gaming Systems 6 Quick Setup/Operations Guide – Sentinel Mini 4.xx
Important Notice:
Passwords are only set remotely by the Account Holder and cannot be changed by users.
The Login Screen will blank after a few minutes of inactivity to cause the monitor and
keyboard to enter power saving standby mode. Press front panel Power Button to restore.
Any attempt to start the system outside of using the Sentinel login is not allowed. Should
the system power on when first plugged in, it will power off automatically. An Alert may be set.
User 8 – Admin / Owner
User 8 is a special user and is required to make important configuration settings and clear alerts
on the Sentinel System . Do not attempt to change its name, number or assign it to one of the
general users of the computer. Do not give this password to users of the system. In addition to
Gaming Mode, Study Mode and No Video Mode there are other modes of login which perform
configuration setting changes within the system. These require User 8 to login. Refer to the
Sentinel Gaming Systems Owners Guide for more information on these modes.
A one time use password with limited time availability can be set remotely to allow a
local user to reset system alerts or configure the system if necessary.
Gaming /Media Mode
This is default mode set for login when power is applied to the system, however from any other
mode selection, press “g” and the screen border color will change to green and the title will
indicate Gaming Mode Login. Now select a user and password. Gaming Mode operation has
many unique features and limits:
Daily Gaming Mode Enable – This setting, when enabled for a given day of the week, will not
allow the user to log into Gaming Mode on that day UNTIL the account holder has specifically
enabled it. This is typically used to allow gaming or computer use as a reward and is contingent
on completion of other activities such as school, homework or chores. This requires the
Account Holder to log into the remote web site and enable the user on that day.
Gaming Mode Login Maximum – This, when set, allows the Account Holder to set a limit to any
single Game Mode Login period in hours and minutes regardless of other settings. This is used
when you want a user to take a break or intersperse other activities between gaming times
(including other login modes). The amount of the required break, in hours and minutes, can be
set to force the user to take a specified break before being allowed to log back to Gaming
mode.
GamePlay+™ Extensions (available only during the last 2 minutes of any Game Mode login) -
This allows an automatic means by which a user can extend the current Gaming Mode login to
complete their game without requiring outside intervention. The amount of the extension (in
minutes) and the number of allowed extensions each day must be configured.
To request an extension, the user presses the front panel Power Button during the last two
