3-in-1 Oral Adapter
If due to tissue swelling on the throat or cheek after the operation
and/or radiation therapy, you do not manage to find a suitable place to
place the speech aid, the 3-in-1 Oral Adapter can be used.
There is a choice of three different possibilities:
Long Tubed Adapter
IIII Easy to hold at a comfortable height
IIII Tube bends to fit
IIII Discrete
IIII Hygienic – saliva cannot easily enter the adapter
Short Tubed Adapter
IIII Made from a soft plastic, therefore more comfortable
in the mouth
IIII Hygienic
IIII Louder than option
IIII Easy to clean and to use
Tubeless Adapter
IIII Highest volume
IIII Closer to the mouth
Place the appropriate tube in the mouth in such a way that it does not
impede the free movement of the tongue, lips and jaw.
The tip of the long tubed adapter should be placed between the upper
row of teeth and the inside of the cheek.
With the short tubed adapter, a small section should slide sideways into
the mouth. The tubeless adapter should be placed in the corner of the
mouth.
In this way a keynote reaches the mouth, where in combination with cor-
rect articulation, it can be transformed into voiced speech.
To a certain extent each tube presents a hinderance to speech, therefore it
is very important to articulate your words well in order to maintain clear
speech.
Practice inserting and removing the tube until you consistently find the
best position for you. At first a mirror may be useful to aid you in doing
this.

Regular cleaning of your oral adapter is essential. We recommend warm
water or slightly soapy water. From time to time the tubes should be
replaced by new ones.
