The Sanicubic 2 is a twin-motor combination lifting station designed for efficient wastewater management. It is particularly susceptible to blockages in its blades/grinders, impellers, and discharge lines, as well as in its pressure activation tubes due to grease, fats, or toilet paper. To mitigate grease-related issues, it is recommended to connect a dishwasher to the pump. The device can also be affected by poor installation or other usage issues.
Troubleshooting Guide:
Symptom: The motor does not activate – No noise
Given that the Sanicubic 2 has two motors, it's important to clarify if one or both motors are still working. This can be done by pressing the motor override buttons for each motor on the main control panel.
- Possible Reasons & Remedies:
- Electrical supply is turned off or faulty: If power disruption is detected, the power indicator light on the control panel should be flashing.
- Remedy: Check the powerpoint/fuse/circuit breaker. Press both motor override buttons for 4 seconds to reset fault indication and stabilize the power light.
- The motor has gone into thermal shutdown: Feel the top of the motor trap for warmth as an indicator.
- Remedy: The motor will try to restart after approximately 45-60 minutes. Look for the origin of overheating, which could be possible blockages in the pump line.
- Blocked pressure tubes due to fat, grease, toilet paper, etc., or faulty pressure switch: A red fault indicator will flash on the control panel and on the remote alarm panel.
- Remedy: Remove and clear pressure tubes. Check and replace the pressure switch if needed. Call Saniflo technical for further assistance.
Symptom: The motor hums, but does not run/activate
Again, clarify if one or both motors are still working by pressing the motor override buttons for each motor on the main control panel.
- Possible Reasons & Remedies:
- The cutter assembly jammed/blocked by a foreign object:
- Remedy: Remove the blockage from the cutter assembly. Also, check impellers for residual foreign matter.
- Pump cover misaligned, impeller loose, or failed capacitor:
- Remedy: Check correct mounting of the pump cover and impeller. Test and replace the capacitor.
- Motor windings failure:
- Remedy: An electrician should test windings and replace the motor if required.
Symptom: The motor runs continuously
- Possible Reasons & Remedies:
- The discharge pipe is blocked:
- Remedy: Clear the discharge line.
- Hydraulic problem (discharge pipe clogged, pump body or impeller loose):
- Remedy: Check the discharge line, pump body, and impeller.
- The length or height of the pump line installation is over the specification, or too many bends/elbows:
- Remedy: Check installation against manufacturer's installation guides.
- The integral non-return-valve (NRV) is blocked/faulty/damaged:
- Remedy: Check and clean/replace the integral NRV.
- Defective control board:
- Remedy: Consult the Saniflo technical department.
Symptom: The motor activates intermittently
- Possible Reasons & Remedies:
- The connected fixtures are running/leaking:
- Remedy: Check and, if needed, repair the fixtures connected to the pump.
- The integral non-return-valve (NRV) is blocked/faulty/damaged:
- Remedy: Check and clean/replace the integral NRV.
- Defective control board:
- Remedy: Consult the Saniflo technical department.
Symptom: Bad or very slow evacuation
- Possible Reasons & Remedies:
- Vent hole blocked. AAV installed on vent connection:
- Remedy: Clean the vent. Remove the AAV, replace it with a 2-way carbon block filter, or vent to atmosphere.
- Impeller or pump cover plate is faulty or discharge line blocked:
- Remedy: Check impeller/pump cover plate/discharge line.
- Partially blocked drainage prior to pump:
- Remedy: Check drain lines and clear blockages.
- The length or height of the pump line installation is over the specification, or too many bends/elbows:
- Remedy: Check installation against manufacturer's installation guides.
Symptom: Backflow of water to fixture/appliance
- Possible Reasons & Remedies:
- Outlet of fixture/appliance too close to activation level of pump: The outlet of the lowest fixture must be a minimum of 275mm above the base of the pump.
- Remedy: Raise the fixture/appliance or lower the pump.
Symptom: Bad smell
- Possible Reasons & Remedies:
- Pump not vented to atmosphere:
- Remedy: Vent to atmosphere or install a 2-way carbon block filter (Plastec Ecovent or Studor Maxi Filtra).
Alarm Instructions – Troubleshooting Guide:
- Anomaly Detected: Flashing red alarm LED
- Causes/Problems: Water Level Detection
- Solutions: Clear activation tubes. Replace pressure switch if faulty. Call Saniflo technical.
- Anomaly Detected: Steady red alarm LED
- Causes/Problems: Blocked vent line, AAV installed, blocked pump line, motor jammed or failed, discharge line beyond specs, faulty control board.
- Solutions: Clear vent line. Remove AAV and replace with carbon block filter or vent to atmosphere. Check cutter assemblies for blockages & impellers for residual matter. Check discharge line against manufacturer's installation guides. Contact Saniflo Technical.
