Sharpdesk™ for Document Management
Sharpdesk™ is an original, intuitive application that pro-
vides integrated desktop management of documents
regardless of the format. You can scan documents and
images directly into Sharpdesk™ by selecting the one-
touch Scan to Desktop keys on the AR-M160’s
operation panel. Or you can drag-and-drop existing
files on your PC into Sharpdesk™. Organise, annotate,
edit and combine files of over 200 types right on your
PC desktop with Sharpdesk™, before you print, e-mail,
fax or archive them.
VIEW
View files in native formats as thumbnail images in more than
200 file types including TIFF, JPEG, BMP and common Office
Suite formats.
IMAGE EDITING
Edit images and photographs with a range of drawing tools
and touch-up filters with Image Editor.
COMPOSE

Scan to Desktop, E-Mail or FTP Server
The optional AR-NB2 Network Printing/Scanning Expansion
Kit and AR-EB7 Dual Function Board turn the AR-M160 into
a convenient full-colour network scanner. As easy as making
a copy, you can send scanned images anywhere over the
network. Scanned files can be forwarded directly to your
PC*

(scan to desktop), sent as an attachment to any e-mail
address over the Internet (scan to e-mail) or stored on a file
server where they can be easily accessed from any PC on
the network (scan to FTP server).
Sharpdesk™ LT for the Networked Office
The AR-NB2 includes Sharpdesk™ LT*

, which provides pow-
erful document management features and allows you to easi-
ly streamline workflow by sharing information among people
in your office network.
A3 Full-Colour Scanning
With full-colour scanning using a TWAIN-compliant driv-
er, the AR-M160 lets you easily scan documents in 600
x 1,200 dpi resolution and use them to create vivid,
impressive colour documents or presentation materials.
And because it scans up to A3 size, the
AR-M160 can scan a wider range of large documents
such as open books
and magazines, thus
saving the cost of an
expensive A3 colour
scanner. The 40-
sheet SPF gives effi-
cient multi-page doc-
ument scanning.
Convenient 3D Scanning
In addition to scanning paper-based documents, the
AR-M160 can scan 3D objects* in full colour using its
high-quality colour CCD with wide depth of field. This
allows you to scan things such as electronic parts, fab-
rics and other
objects, a feature
that means more
creative possibilities
and more ways to
communicate accu-
rately and effective-
ly.
*The size of scannable
objects is limited.
Button Manager
The AR-M160’s convenient Button Manager lets you
scan documents and objects directly into applications
on your PC. Up to six pre-registered applications are
available, including Sharpdesk
™
, e-mail, Microsoft
®
Word*, OCR*and PC-fax. Operation is quick and
easy — simply press the Scan button and select an
application from the Button Manager keys.
