decimal places indicated, the internal calculation
result may differ from that shown in the display. By
using the modify function, the internal value is con-
verted to match that of the display, so that the dis-
played value can be used without change in
subsequent operations. This function is useful, for
example, when performing calculations in which the
significant digits of a number need to be taken into
account.
In general, the value in the display is not used for
calculation. Instead, the value stored internally is
used.

To carry out addition, subtraction, multiplication, and
division using complex numbers, press (MODE) (_1 |
to select the complex number mode.
There are two modes of expression of the results
of complex number calculations.
@ Rectangular coordinate mode. (xy appears on
the display.)
@® Polar coordinate mode. (r8 appears on the dis-
play.)
