CAUTION
LC
IMPORTANT SERVICE SAFETY PRECAUTION
WA R NIN G
1. F or continue d s a fe ty, no modifica tion of any circ uit s hould be
a ttempte d.
2. Disconnect AC power before servicing.
BEFORE RETURNING THE RECEIVER (Fire &
Shock Hazard)
B efore returning the rec eiver to the user, perform the following
safety checks:
3. Ins pect all lead dres s to make certain that leads are not pinched,
and check that hardware is not lodged between the chassis and
other metal parts in the receiver.
4. Ins pect all protective devices s uch as non-metallic control knobs ,
ins ula tion ma te ria ls , c a binet ba cks , a djus tme nt and c ompa rtment
covers or s hields, is olation res ist or-capacitor net works , mechanical
ins ulators , etc.
5. To be sure that no shock hazard exists, check for leakage current in
the following manner.
P lug t he AC cord directly int o a 110-240 volt AC outlet.
Using two clip leads , c onnect a 1.5k ohm, 10 watt res isto r paral-
leled by a 0. 15 F capacit or in s eries wit h all exposed met al cabinet
parts and a known earth ground, s uch a s electrica l conduit or elec-
tric al ground connected to an ear th ground.
Us e an AC voltmeter having with 5000 ohm per volt, or higher, sen-
sitivity or measure the AC voltage drop across the resistor.
C onnect t he res is tor connection t o all expos ed metal parts having a
re turn to the cha s s is (a nte nna , me ta l ca bine t, s c re w he a ds , knobs
and control shafts , escutcheon, etc.) and measure the AC voltage
drop a cros s the re s is tor.
All checks mus t be repea ted with the AC cord plug connection
reversed. (If neces s ary, a nonpolarized adaptor plug mus t be us ed
only for the purpose of c ompleting these checks.)
Any rea ding of 0.74 Vrms (this corre s ponds to 0. 5 mA rms AC. ) or
more is exces s ive a nd indicates a potential s hock haza rd which
mus t be c orre cted before re turning the monitor to the owner.

SAFETY NOTICE
Many electrica l and mecha nical parts in L C D colour tele vis ion have
s pecial s a fety-related cha racteris tics .
T hes e cha racteris tics are often not evident from vis ual ins pection, nor
can protection afforded by them be neces s arily increas ed by us ing
replacement components rated for higher voltage, wattage, etc.
R eplacement parts which have thes e s pecial s afety characteris tics are
identified in this manual; elect rical components having such features
are identified by " " and shaded areas in the R eplacement P arts List
and S chematic Diagrams.
For continued protection, replacement parts must be ide ntical to those
us ed in the original circuit.
The us e of a substitute replacement parts which do not have the same
s a fe ty cha ra cteris tic s a s the fa c tory re c omme nde d re pla c e me nt pa rts
shown in this s ervice manual, may create s hock, fire or other hazards .
