MAINTENANCE SECTION - Continued
RETURN TO THE OPERATING MODE
1. Start the engine and raise the tractor lift
system to the full up position. Shut off the engine
and dismount the tractor.
2. Pull rearward and up on the lower part of the
deck and reconnect the clevis pins and hairpin
clips through the tumbuckles on the rear lift rods.
or
Disconnect the service links from the lift arms
and swing them up against the tractor step
platform for storage.
3. SLOWLY lower the mower to the ground with
the lift control lever.
4. Align the blind splines on the driveline shaft
halves and slide it together.
IMPORTANT.
There is a blind spline between the rear and front
half of the driveline. Align the two pinched male
splines on the mower half of the driveline with
the open female spline in the tractor half and
slide together. The female open spline is 1800
around the shaft from the grease fitting.
5. Install the driveline to the tractor PTO shaft by
pulling back on the lock collar as it is installed.
Release the lock collar and pull on the shaft to
make sure it is locked to the tractor PTO shaft.
IMPORTANT
Make sure the snap ring is installed on the gear
box input shaft (see page 22) and the sliding lock
collar is securely locked to the tractor PTO shaft
before attempting to operate the mower deck.
MOWER DECK REMOVAL
1. Make sure the tractor is on a firm level
surface, the engine is shut off, the parking brake
is set, and the lift control lever is in the ‘float”
position before proceeding.
2. Disconnect the driveline from the tractor PTO
by pulling back on the coupler collar, unlocking it
from the tractor PTO shaft.
3. Using a length of baling wire, fasten the
driveline halves together at the yokes.
4. Pull the hairpin clips and clevis pins through
the turnbuckles on the rear lift rods. It is not
necessary to remove the rear lift rods from the lift
arms.
5. Pull the hairpin clips and remove both clevis
pins retaining the lift arms to the front of the
deck.
6. Raise the lift arms and roll the mower deck
away from the tractor.
7. If the mower deck is being removed for
seasonal storage, also remove the special pins
holding the arms to the tractor. Remove both lift
arms and place them with the mower.
NOTE:
Mower deck reinstallation is a reversal of steps 2
through 7 above.
FRONT WHEEL BEARING REPLACEMENT
When replacing the front wheel bearings it will be
necessary to identify which bearings fit your
wheel. Measure the bearings. If the bearings
measure .950 inches then it is necessary to use
bearing kit number AUBl63491. If the bearing
measures 1.950 inches, then it is necessary to
use bearing kit number AUBl63555.
You can also identify the bearing kit by the end
caps. If the end cap is stamped, then use kit
number AUB163491. If the end cap is powdered
metal use AUBI 63555.
