The Siemens RDF301, RDF301.50..., RDF600KN, RDF600KN/VB, and RDF600KN/S are semi flush-mount communicating room thermostats designed for controlling room temperature in individual rooms and zones. These devices are suitable for 2-pipe, 2-pipe with electric heater, and 4-pipe fan coil units, as well as for use with compressors in DX-type equipment.
These thermostats offer comprehensive room temperature control via a built-in temperature sensor or an external room/return air temperature sensor. They support automatic or manual changeover between heating and cooling modes, which can be configured via a local sensor, bus, or manually. Users can select applications using DIP switches or a commissioning tool, and operating modes (Comfort, Economy, Protection) are selectable via a button on the thermostat. A temporary Comfort mode extension is also available.
Fan control includes 1-speed or 3-speed options, with automatic or manual speed control. Advanced fan control functions such as fan kick and fan start are supported, with selectable fan operation (enable, disable, or depending on heating/cooling mode). A purge function is available for 2-pipe changeover systems with 2-port valves. The thermostats also feature a reminder to clean fan filters (adjustable with P62) and floor heating temperature limitation.
The devices display current room temperature or setpoint in °C and/or °F, and allow for minimum and maximum limitation of the room temperature setpoint. Button lock can be activated automatically or manually.
Two multifunctional inputs are freely selectable for various functions, including:
For RDF301... models, these inputs can serve as an operating mode switchover contact (keycard, window contact, etc.). For RDF600KN... models, they can be used for window contact or presence detection (standard and hotel presence).
KNX bus communication (S-mode and LTE mode) is a key feature, enabling communication with Synco or other KNX-compatible devices via CE+ and CE- terminals. Through the KNX bus, the thermostats can display outdoor temperature or time of day, and support time scheduling and central control of setpoints. When integrated with a Synco RMx7xx controller, the energy demand signal from the thermostat can be used to optimize energy supply.
The RDF301.50 and RDF600KN/S models include four buttons for controlling KNX actuators via KNX S-mode, supporting functions like switching, dimming, blinds control, and 8-bit scenes. The RDF301.50H model offers dedicated buttons for hotel functions such as "Make Up Room" (MUR) and "Do Not Disturb" (DND) via KNX S-mode.
The thermostats are delivered with a fixed set of applications, which are selected and activated during commissioning using Synco ACS, ETS, or local DIP switches and HMI. They are designed for semi flush-mount installation on a conduit box, approximately 1.5 m above the floor, away from direct airflow, heat sources, or solar radiation.
The devices are composed of two parts: a front panel with electronics, operating elements, and a built-in sensor, and a mounting base with power electronics and screw terminals. The front panel slides into the mounting base and snaps on.
