Tripping Characteristics

Every trip unit and every trip
function has its own characteristic.
You will find just a small section
of these illustrated below.
The characteristics show the
respective greatest and
smallest setting range of
WL Circuit Breakers.
To obtain a complete release
characteristic, the appropriate
characteristic functions must
be determined.
The characteristics show the
behavior of the overcurrent
release when it is activated by
a current already flowing
before tripping. If the
overcurrent trip takes place
immediately after closing and
the overcurrent release is
therefore not yet activated, the
opening time is prolonged by
about 3 to 10 ms, depending on
the value of the overcurrent.
