PROCEDURE
1.
Hang
the
IV
container
above
the
pump.
Connect
the
IV
set
to
the
IV
container
and
prime
the
set
completely
(remove
all
air
from
the
tubing,
be
sure
the
drip
chamber
is
at
least
half
full).
Load
the
IV
set
into
SIGMA
6000+
pump
and
close
the
pump
door.
Be
sure
all
IV
set
clamps
are
open,
Connect
the
end
of
the
IV
set
to
the
collection
vessel.
If
vessel
is
a
100ml
graduate,
locate
the
end
of
the
set
at
about
the
55ml
level.
Be
sure
fluid
is
at
the
end
of
the
IV
set,
but
none
has
dripped
into
the
graduate
before
starting
the
test.
Tura
the
pump
on,
set
the
flow,
rate
=
100
(mi/hr)
and
volume
limit
=
50ml.
Begin
the
test
by
pressing
the
pumps’
RUN
key.
.
Allow
the
SIGMA
6000+
to
pump
until
it
goes
into
Infusion
Complete
alarm.
If
test
is
interrupted
by
any
alarms;
except
air,
the
test
can
be
continued
as
long
as
the
pump
was
observed
by
the
tester
to
have
not
been
in
stop
for
more
than
a
few
minutes,
otherwise
press
STOP
to
halt
the
KVO
(keep
vein
open)
rate
once
the
pump
goes
into
Infusion
Complete.
Observe
the
actual
volume
collected.
If
the
collected
volume
is
within
the
range
47.5ml
52.5ml,
the
pump
is
properly
calibrated.
If
not,
return
the
pump
to
SIGMA
for
recalibration
or
follow
SIGMA’s
Service
Procedure
Flow
Rate
Calibration.
