Overview

This document is an operating manual for the SilverCrest Electric Rice Cooker SRK 700 A1, a kitchen appliance designed for cooking rice and steaming other foods.

Function Description:

The SilverCrest Electric Rice Cooker SRK 700 A1 is a versatile kitchen tool primarily used for cooking rice, but it also features a steaming attachment for preparing vegetables, fish, and other foods simultaneously. The appliance operates with a simple function selector switch that allows users to choose between "Cooking" and "Keep-warm" modes. Once the rice is cooked or the water for steaming has evaporated, the cooker automatically switches to the "Keep-warm" setting, indicated by a change in the control lamp's illumination. This automatic switch-off feature prevents overcooking and keeps food warm until serving. The rice cooker is designed for private household use and is not intended for commercial applications.

Before First Use:

Users should carefully unpack the rice cooker, remove all protective foils, and clean any packaging dust. All components that come into contact with foodstuffs should be cleaned as described in the "Cleaning and Care" chapter.

Cooking Rice:

  1. Preparation: Lightly coat the inside of the cooking bowl (4) with grease or vegetable oil for better cooking results.
  2. Rice Measurement: Use the provided measuring cup to measure the desired quantity of rice. One level measuring cup typically yields one portion.
  3. Washing Rice: Thoroughly wash and sieve the rice to prevent poor cooking results and excessive foam/steam.
  4. Water Addition: Add water to the cooking bowl (4) according to the rice quantity, using the cup markings as a guide (e.g., 2 measuring beakers of rice to water marking "2"). Adjust water quantity based on rice type and personal preference.
  5. Placement: Place the filled cooking bowl (4) back into the rice cooker housing, ensuring the outside of the bowl is dry.
  6. Lid and Power: Close the lid (2) and insert the power cable into the socket (8) on the side of the appliance, then plug it into a wall socket. The yellow control lamp (5) will glow.
  7. Start Cooking: Press the function selector switch (7) down. The yellow control lamp (5) will extinguish, and the red control lamp (6) will glow, indicating the start of cooking.
  8. Automatic Keep-Warm: Once the rice is cooked, the cooker automatically switches to "Keep-warm" mode; the red lamp extinguishes, and the yellow lamp glows.
  9. Resting Time: Allow the rice to stand for at least 15 minutes with the lid (2) on in the cooking bowl (4).
  10. Serving: Remove the lid (2) and stir the rice with the supplied plastic spoon to loosen it.

Steaming:

  1. Water Addition: Pour the required amount of water into the cooking bowl (4). The cooking time depends on the water volume (e.g., 1 filled measuring cup for ~15 minutes of steaming).
  2. Food Placement: Place the food to be steamed into the steamer attachment (3).
  3. Assembly: Place the steamer attachment (3) on top of the cooking bowl (4).
  4. Lid and Power: Close the appliance lid (2) and plug the power cable into a wall socket. The yellow control lamp (5) will glow.
  5. Start Steaming: Press the function selector switch (7) down. The yellow control lamp (5) will extinguish, and the red control lamp (6) will glow, indicating the start of steaming.
  6. Automatic Keep-Warm: The cooker automatically switches to "Keep-warm" mode once the water has evaporated.

Safety Warnings:

  • Electric Shock: Always unplug the appliance before moving, filling, cleaning, or when not in use. Do not touch the plug with wet hands. Never immerse the device in water or liquids. If the appliance falls into liquid, unplug it immediately and have it inspected by a service company.
  • Personal Injury: Never leave the appliance unattended during operation. Hot steam escapes from the steam exit opening (1) and upon opening the cover; avoid placing hands or body parts over it to prevent scalding. The appliance's surfaces become hot during operation.
  • Appliance Damage: Do not cover the lid with towels. Do not place the appliance near heat sources. Do not open the housing. Only use provided accessories and always insert the cooking bowl before use. Use only the supplied plastic spoon to avoid damaging the anti-stick coating.
