Why is my Simplicity 1693207 Tiller engine hard to start?
    • D
      Donna DavisJul 29, 2025
An engine might be hard to start for a few reasons. Old fuel could be the culprit; drain it and replace it with fresh fuel, and consider using a gas stabilizer at the end of the season. Ensure the spark plug wire is securely attached to the spark plug. Also, make sure the drive control levers are released to neutral to start the engine.

      Jasmine PerezAug 2, 2025
If the engine misses or lacks power, try the following: raise the tines for shallower tilling by lowering the drag stake. Remove and clean the fuel tank. Clean or replace the air cleaner. Replace the spark plug and adjust the gap. Also, drain and refill the gas tank and carburetor. If the problem persists, the carburetor adjustment might be improper, in this case you need to take the tiller to an authorized Briggs & Stratton service center.
