❶ Step One — Remove the mower deck from the
tractor. Locate the eight knock-outs as shown by the
arrows in the illustration above. Knock these out
carefully with a punch as shown in the inset above
and twist out.
On decks without knock-outs, position the baffle and
discharge plates as shown in Steps 4 through 6, then
drill ten 11/32” holes at each of the locations to attach
the baffle plates.

❷ Step Two — Remove the standard blades using a
wood block to hold blades in position while removing the
mounting capscrew as shown above.

Do not handle the sharp mower blades with bare
hands. Careless or improper handling of blades
may result in serious injury.

Mulching Kit Installation Steps

Step One: Deck Preparation

Remove mower deck, locate and knock out eight knock-outs, or drill holes for baffle plates.

Step Two: Blade Removal

Remove standard blades using a wood block to hold them while removing the mounting capscrew.

Step Three: Mulching Blade Installation

Install mulching blades with tabs up, using a wood block to prevent rotation, torque capscrews.

Step Four: Baffle Positioning

Position baffle so discharge edge contacts stone guard, hold with clamps.

Step Five: Discharge Closure Plate Installation

Position discharge closure plate at opening, insert tab into baffle, hold with clamps.

Step Six: Baffle and Closure Plate Adjustment

Adjust baffle and closure plate vertically so blade tips are even above edges.

Step Seven: Baffle Attachment

Attach baffle using carriage bolts, lockwashers, and hex nuts; bolt head must be inside.

Step Eight: Hole Drilling for Closure Plate

Locate two holes in closure plate, drill at these locations using 11/32" bit, file burrs.

Step Nine: Closure Plate Attachment

Attach closure plate with phillips screws, lockwashers, and nuts; tighten securely.
