GENERAL
5.1.11
The
following
paragraphs
of
this
section
describe
the
bat-
tery
replacement,
fuse
replacement,
test
lead
inspection
and
care
for
the
270-5.
5.2
INSPECTION
5.2.1
The
user
is
protected
from
electrical
shock
by
the
insulation
of
the
270
and
its
test
leads.
Frequently
examine
them
for
any
in-
sulation
damage
such
as
cracks,
cuts,
chips,
burns
or
deterioration
that
expose
internal
metal
parts
or
reduce
the
spacing
between
such
metal
parts
and
hand
contact
by
the
operator.
5.2.2
Make
certain
that
the
battery
compartment
cover
is
se-
curely
fastened
in
place
before
the
Instrument
is
used.
5.2.3
Do
not
permit
an
instrument
with
a
broken
glass
meter
cover
to
be
used.
5.2.4
Whenever
the
battery
compartment
cover
is
removed
for
Зпу
reason,
check
that
the
proper
fuses
are
being
used.
5.2.5
Severe
overloads
may
have
damaged
the
Instruments
circuitry
despite
the
protection
afforded
by
the
fuse.
When
a
fuse
is
replaced,
all
ranges
should
be
routinely
checked
(calibrated)
against
the
specifications
in
this
manual
before
the
Instrument
is
returned
to
service.

BATTERY
REPLACEMENT:
a.
Two
batteries
are
used
inside
the
case
to
supply
power
for
resistance
measurements.
One
is
a
1.5-volt
D
battery
and
the
other
is
a
9-volt
battery.
When
it
is
no
longer
possible
to
adjust
