REPLACING MILLER BLADES
Miller cuts the stalks and spread them over
the soil. When the blades are used, replace
them with new-ones. Used blades cut badly
and charge the machine and tractor
additionally. All blades must be replaced at
the same time in order to prevent vibrations
which cause the rupture of vital parts of the
miller. If only one blade brakes, replace it
immediately. When replacing blades, always
replace pins and securities too.
HUSKER ROLLERS ADJUSTMENT
To achieve satisfactory husking quality,
husker rollers must be pressed together as
much as possible over the whole length. If
between the rollers appears the gap, for
instance due to the fact that rubber rollers
were worn out, proceed as follows: undo
partly the screws on both sides (pos. 2,
fig. 14) and press the rollers together. Do not
move driving roller (pos. 1, fig. 14). Do not
leave a gap between roller pairs when
pressing them together, the rollers rotate to
each other (pos. 14). The gap on “non active”
part between two pairs of rollers can
increase. When the rollers are close enough
turn the screws well (pos. 2, fig. 14).
It is recommended to clean the husking unit
periodically. By that the wearing out of rollers
is reduced. When the rubber rollers are worn
out so much they can not be pressed towards
the metal roller any more, rubber sections
must be replaced (pos. 18, 24, fig. H). When
harvesting maize which is difficult to husk,
put into the metal rollers additional teeth
(pos. 3, fig. 14) added to the machine in a
sack. Put the teeth into the metal rollers step
by step from the entrance of cobs into husker
towards the exit. The number of teeth
depends of the quality of husking. By
increasing number of teeth, maize-beans on
the cob can be damaged.
