Do you have a question about the SKF PowerLuber 1882E and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The PowerLuber grease gun (lithium ion) is a portable, battery-operated lubrication tool designed for dispensing grease. It is developed for manual lubrication of grease points and features an electronic control center with an LCD display and LED light for enhanced visibility. The gun is driven by a small, low-voltage electric motor connected to a gear transmission, and its rotary motion is converted into reciprocating motion of a plunger using a cam mechanism. The PowerLuber is a positive displacement single acting pump.

Function Description

The PowerLuber is designed to provide efficient and controlled grease application. It features a two-speed transmission (high and low pump speed) to adapt to various lubrication needs. The "L" or "H" speed is displayed on the LCD. The high speed delivers 0.5 ounces (0.162 l) per minute at 1,000 psi (68 bar) back pressure, while the low speed delivers 3.5 ounces (0.103 l) per minute at 2,500 psi (172 bar) back pressure. The motor speed increases automatically from "L" to "H" if back pressure exceeds 2,500 psi (172 bar). The LCD display shows the output of grease delivered in ounces or grams, and the charge unit of measure can be changed to ounces or grams by holding button "1" for 15 seconds. The flow accuracy is +/- 10% at ambient temperature 32 °F (0 °C) to 95 °F (+35 °C) and back pressure 0 psi to 4,000 psi (0 bar to 275 bar). Precise delivery is not measured outside these parameters. The meter accuracy is valid for use with NLGI 1 and 2 EP Lithium grease. Resolution of meter is 1 oz and 0.1 g.

The device includes a motor protection system that prevents overload due to excessive current draw, with the display flashing red when this occurs. An LCD shows battery charge, pump speed, and grease output. An illuminating LED light helps locate grease fittings in dim light.

  • Safety Precautions: Always wear eye protection, dust mask, non-skid safety shoes, hard hat or hearing protection. Do not expose the tool to rain or wet conditions. Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces. Do not abuse the cord. Keep children and other untrained persons away from the operating area.
  • Battery and Charger Safety: Use only the specified battery pack and charger. Do not expose battery to fire or excessive heat. Do not short circuit battery terminals. Do not store in locations where the temperature may exceed 50 °C (122 °F). Charge only using the charger provided with the tool.
  • Grease Cartridge Installation: Unscrew the grease tube assembly from the PowerLuber. Pull back on the follower handle and latch the follower rod groove into the slot on the tube cap. Remove the plastic cap from the grease cartridge and insert the cartridge into the container tube. Reassemble the grease tube assembly.
  • Filling from Bulk Container: Remove the pump assembly from the grease tube assembly. Pull the follower rod into the cavity of the pump assembly. Insert the open end of the grease tube assembly into the lubricant. Slowly pull the follower handle back while pumping the grease tube assembly deeper into the lubricant to prevent air pockets.
  • Filling with Filler Pump: Engage the follower rod with the follower by rotating the follower handle. Insert the gun bulk fill valve into the filler pump outlet. Separate the filler pump to fill the container. Do not overfill.
  • Expelling Air Pockets: Withdraw the follower rod from the grease tube assembly cap and engage it with the follower by rotating the follower handle. Unscrew the plug of the vent valve 3 to 4 turns. Exert force on the follower handle until grease flows through the small hole in the side of the vent valve. Tighten the vent valve. Pull the trigger in short bursts to operate the gun until trapped air is expelled.
  • Speed Selection: Pressing button 2 switches the tool between high and low pump speed. The letter "L" or "H" is displayed on the LCD.
  • LCD Display and LED Light: Button number 1 turns on/off the LED. Button number 1 turns on the display. The tool's trigger also turns on the LED and display. The LCD and display will turn off after 30 seconds.
