Overview

The SKOPE ReFlex Series is a range of refrigeration products designed for commercial use, emphasizing safety, performance, and ease of maintenance. These units are built to operate within specific climatic conditions, with models available for various ambient temperatures and humidity levels.

Function Description:

The ReFlex Series cabinets are designed to store perishable food products at controlled internal temperatures. They feature an electronic controller that regulates the internal temperature, signals alarms, and captures operational information. The internal temperature is factory-set for storing perishable goods, but users can customize settings and view historical data via the SKOPE-connect app, which connects via Bluetooth wireless technology. Some models include hinged doors with interior lights that switch on and off automatically. The ChefBase cabinets, a specific type within the series, are designed with a marine edge on the benchtop to contain spills and prevent items from slipping, and they incorporate a heat shield to deflect heat from cooking equipment, helping maintain food-safe temperatures.

Important Technical Specifications:

The cabinets are designed for operation within specific climate classes, which dictate the maximum ambient temperature and relative humidity they can effectively operate in. For example:

  • Climate Class 3: 25°C ambient temperature, 60% relative humidity.
  • Climate Class 4: 30°C ambient temperature, 55% relative humidity.
  • Climate Class 5: 40°C ambient temperature, 40% relative humidity.
  • Climate Class 7 (tropical): 35°C ambient temperature, 75% relative humidity. The refrigeration system utilizes flammable R290 refrigerant, requiring servicing by qualified personnel only. Shelves within the cabinets have a maximum load capacity of 20 kg per shelf. ChefBase fridges have specific weight limits for their benchtops: no greater than 200 kg for 2-drawer models and no greater than 400 kg for 4-drawer models. Drawers in underbench models are designed to fit GN1/1, 100 mm deep pans, with a maximum pan top lip height of 5 mm. ChefBase cabinet drawers accommodate GN2/1, GN1/1, and GN1/6, 100 mm deep pans.

Usage Features:

  • Installation: Proper ventilation is crucial for economical and high-performance operation. Upright cabinets require a minimum of 300 mm clearance above, with no side or behind clearance generally required unless operating in a climate class 7 environment (where 50 mm clearance around sides and back is recommended). Underbench and ChefBase cabinets require no above, side, or behind clearance, but require clear space in front of the grille and doors/drawers. The installation surface must be capable of supporting the loaded cabinet, and the cabinet must be installed on a level surface. Adequate space for door/drawer opening is also necessary. Direct sunlight should be avoided.
  • Loading: Before loading product, the cabinet should be allowed to cool to the desired storage temperature. Internal airflow requires a 25 mm space between products and the back of the cabinet interior. Shelves should not be overloaded, and products should not hang over the shelves. The cabinet floor should not be used for product storage; shelves must be used.
  • Drawers: Drawers are removable for cleaning. They can be pulled out, latches released, and then lifted out at an angle. The drawer slider can also be removed by releasing side catches.
  • Shelves: Each shelf is secured by four shelf clips that fit into support strips or sit on the cabinet floor. Shelf height is adjustable to accommodate different product sizes.
  • Power Supply: The appliance must be used with the voltage specified on its rating label. The power cord should be pulled out and connected to the power supply before final positioning. For upright cabinets, the power cord must be routed through the opening on the wire grille at the back. The power supply should not be overloaded.
  • Safety: Always disconnect the appliance from the power supply before cleaning or maintenance. Do not block airflow grilles. Manual defrosting requires turning off the refrigeration system and allowing ice to melt naturally, collecting water to prevent slips. Mechanical methods for ice removal are prohibited. No electrical devices or appliances should be used inside the food storage compartment. The appliance is not intended for use by persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience/knowledge, unless supervised. Children must be supervised to prevent play with the appliance. Fingers or foreign objects should not be inserted into any holes. Moving parts and hot surfaces should be avoided. All electrical work must be performed by authorised personnel. A damaged power supply cord must be replaced by an authorised service agent. Extreme caution is needed when moving or transporting the appliance as it is not designed to be stable while in motion. Explosive substances like aerosol cans with flammable propellant should not be stored inside. When scrapping the cabinet, it must be unplugged, the mains flex cut, and doors removed/secured to prevent entrapment. Refrigerant must be removed by a qualified service person and disposed of according to local regulations.

Maintenance Features:

  • Cleaning Before First Use: The cabinet interior, drawers, and food contact surfaces (including the worktop) must be thoroughly cleaned and sanitised before first use. The cabinet should not be plugged in during this process. Standard stainless steel cleaners suitable for food preparation areas should be used.
  • Routine Cleaning: The cabinet must be unplugged before cleaning. Abrasive, corrosive, or solvent-based cleaners should not be used on the exterior. The outside should be wiped with a damp cloth, and the inside with standard stainless steel cleaners. Moisture should be kept away from electrical parts.
  • Condenser Coil and Air Filter Cleaning: SKOPE strongly recommends monthly cleaning of the condenser coil and air filter. Hard or sharp tools should not be used to clean the coil. Combination cabinets (fridge and freezer) have two filters and coils.
    • Filter Removal (Upright Cabinets): The filter is located on the side of the condenser coil, on top of the cabinet. It is removed by reaching over the top and sliding it up and off.
    • Filter Removal (Underbench and ChefBase Cabinets): The filter is located behind the unit bottom grille. It is removed by rotating the grille out and sliding the filter up and off.
    • Filter Cleaning: Clean the filter with a vacuum cleaner, wash with cold water, and shake off excess water. Hot water, blow-drying, or dishwashing the filter is prohibited. Filters should be discarded and replaced if necessary.
    • Coil Cleaning: After removing the filter, brush the condenser coil with a soft brush to remove dust or fluff.
  • Service & Support: SKOPE provides helpful information on its website (www.skope.com/serviceandsupport) for preventative maintenance guidelines and support.
