Visual and Daily Maintenance Inspections Section 2 - Operations
Wheel/Tire Assembly •
The aerial platform is either equipped with
air tires or foam-filled tires. Tire and/or wheel
failure could result in an aerial platform tip
over. Component damage may also result if
problems are not discovered and repaired in
a timely fashion.
WARNING
An over-inflated tire can explode and
may cause death or serious injury.
Check all tire treads and sidewalls for cuts, -
cracks, punctures and unusual wear.
Check each wheel for damage and cracked -
welds.
Check each lug nut for proper torque to -
ensure none are loose.
To maximize stability, it is essential to maintain
proper pressure in all air-filled tires.
Check each tire with an air pressure gauge -
and add air as needed.
Refer to Table 2.4 for tire/wheel specifications.
2.8-8 Manuals
Ensure a copy of operating manual, and other
important documents are enclosed in manual
storage box.
Check to be sure manual storage box is -
present and in good condition.
Ensure manuals are legible and in good -
condition.
Always return manuals to the manual storage -
box after use.
2.8-9 Platform Assembly
Ensure there are no loose or missing parts -
and there is no visible damage.
Ensure all fasteners are securely in place. -
Ensure all railings are properly positioned -
and secured.
Ensure gate is in good working order. -
Ensure footswitch is in good working order -
and has not been modified, disabled or
blocked.

Ensure all switches/controllers are returned -
to neutral and are properly secured.
Ensure there are no loose or missing parts -
and there is no visible damage.
