What to do if my Smart temp SMT-400 temperature display seems inaccurate?
    • W
      westwilliamAug 13, 2025
If your Smart temp Thermostat's temperature display is inaccurate, it could be due to several reasons. First, air from the wall cavity might be leaking into the rear of the thermostat; plug any holes in the wall with tape to prevent leaks. Second, the internal temperature sensor might be folded back; open the case and carefully move the sensor so it protrudes through the opening. Third, external heat sources like lamps or drafts might be affecting the sensor; move these away from the sensor or consider using a remote temperature sensor.

Why does my Smart temp SMT-400 Thermostat say “Locked” and won't operate?
    • K
      Kelly FryeAug 17, 2025
The “Locked” message on your Smart temp Thermostat indicates that the Hi / Low ambient lockout function is active, inhibiting heating or cooling to save energy. To adjust this, you will need to change the lockout values in the installer menu.

Why is heating or cooling running in dead band on my Smart temp SMT-400?
    • P
      pacejamesAug 25, 2025
If your Smart temp Thermostat is running heating or cooling in the dead band, it might be incorrectly set to HP mode. To resolve this, set SW2=OFF and retest the heating & cooling operation. Also, check the compressor and reversing valve wiring (W1 & Y1, Y2) for correct connections, especially if SW2=ON.

How to fix dashes on the Outside Air Temp display of my Smart temp SMT-400?
    • T
      Trevor CarterAug 28, 2025
If the Outside Air Temp display on your Smart temp Thermostat shows dashes, the outside air temperature sensor may have failed. Check the wiring and the sensor itself, and replace the sensor if necessary. Also, verify that the settings in Auxiliary input are correctly configured for the outside air sensor and that the sensor is properly fitted.

Why hasn't my Smart temp SMT-400 started heating or cooling?
    • B
      Brian KhanSep 1, 2025
Your Smart temp Thermostat may not have started heating or cooling because of a 5-minute anti-cycle delay. This feature protects the heating and cooling system from rapid cycling. If needed, you can disable this function by setting DIP Switch 5 to off.

What does it mean when the text “Fault” is shown on my Smart temp SMT-400 Display?
    • C
      Cynthia LawrenceSep 5, 2025
The “Fault” message on the display of your Smart temp Thermostat indicates that the unit might be receiving a signal from a building management system, the air conditioning system, or another external device. This may not indicate a fault with the thermostat itself.

What does it mean when the text “Fault” is Flashing on the Display of my Smart temp SMT-400 Thermostat?
    • I
      Isaiah PerrySep 8, 2025
The flashing “Fault” message on your Smart temp Thermostat indicates that the thermostat is connected to a Wi-Fi router (as shown by a satellite symbol on the display), but the router cannot connect to the Smart Temp web server. Ensure that your internet connection is active and that your router has internet access.
