The SmartPro Optimum-I (SPO-I) is a handheld diamond multi-tester designed for identifying between natural diamonds, CVD/HPHT synthetic diamonds, and all types of moissanite. It utilizes special UV LEDs with fiber optic technology to achieve its testing capabilities.

Function Description:

The primary function of the SPO-I is to differentiate between various types of diamonds and moissanite. It acts as a 3-in-1 distinguisher, capable of identifying natural diamonds, all types of synthetic moissanites, and synthetic CVD/HPHT diamonds. The device also includes a UV torch mode for diamond fluorescent tests. It features an auto-testing function and an automatic power-off feature after 5 minutes of inactivity to conserve power. A beep sound indicator provides audible feedback during operation.

Usage Features:

• Powering On/Off: To turn the device ON/OFF, plug the USB cable from a power bank/adaptor to the input port of the SPO-I, then press and hold the power switch for 3 seconds. The device will automatically turn off after 5 minutes of idle time.
• Calibration: After turning ON, ensure the probe tip protector is attached. Click the "START" button to begin calibration. During calibration, do not remove the probe's protector. Once calibration is complete, remove the protector to start testing.
• Testing Procedure:
  • Place the tester probe tip on the stone's table. The "READY!" message will be displayed.
  • If the probe sensor detects an object, the "READY" color will change from Black to Blue, accompanied by a beep sound, and testing will begin.
  • If testing doesn't begin, lift the probe away from the gemstone and then place it back. A beep sound indicates detection.
  • Ensure the UV LEDs are not blocked during testing for accurate results.
  • The tester's probe should always be placed as much as possible on the center area of the TABLE FACET for accurate results. Avoid having an angle between the probe tip and the table side of the diamond, placing the probe out of the table facet area, or having a distance between the probe tip and the table side of the diamond.
  • Pressing "START" begins testing mode, and "STOP" ends it. The "STOP" button is disabled during the analyzing process.
• Test Results Display: The device displays "DIAMOND" for detected natural diamonds (Type Ia), "MOISSANITE" for detected synthetic moissanite, and "CVD/HPHT" for detected synthetic diamonds (CVD or HPHT). Note that natural diamond-type IIa SPO-I may show "CVD/HPHT" as it has no Nitrogen impurities.
• UV Torch Mode: The SPO-I has a UV torch mode (ON/OFF) to help view color fluorescence in diamonds.
• Rotate Display: The display can be rotated by pressing the screen rotation button, accommodating both left-handed and right-handed users.
• Bluetooth Connectivity: The SPO-I can connect to the Smartpro App via Bluetooth. The app can be downloaded using provided QR codes for Android and Apple devices.
• Test Result Counter: A counter is available in testing mode to monitor test counts for Natural Diamond (DIA), CVD/HPHT (C/H), and Moissanite (MOI). To reset the counter to zero, click the "STOP" button, then the "START" button. The maximum count value is 999.

Maintenance Features:

• Environmental Protection: Avoid exposing the SPO-I to dusty and moist places.
• Internal Components: The tester contains precise electrical circuits; do not attempt to open any sealed parts.
• Storage: If the SPO-I and its power bank are not used for an extended period, store them in a proper place.
• Temperature Range: The device is designed to work within specific ambient temperatures. Avoid exposing it to dramatic changes in temperature or humidity, as this can damage the device and shorten its lifespan.
• Probe Protector: Always use the probe's protector when the device is not in use.
• Probe Cleaning: The test probe should be kept clean. Dirt at the end of the fiber probe tip should be gently cleaned with low-lint wipes or optical cleaning tissue with isopropyl alcohol.
• Charging: It is recommended not to connect the power bank to the tester if the power bank is charging simultaneously, as this may cause overheating.
• Troubleshooting (Calibration Error): If a calibration error occurs, restart the tester and follow the calibration procedures.
• Troubleshooting (No Power): If the device has no power, check if the USB cable is properly connected. If using a power bank, check its battery level and charge it if empty.

Safety Information:

The SPO-I uses UV LEDs that emit UV light during operation. UV light can be harmful to the eyes. Do NOT look directly into the UV light, even through an optical instrument. In cases of light reflection, UV protective glasses are required to prevent damage from the light. Proper use of the tester is not harmful to eyes and skin.
