This document is a user manual for the Smeg STL362DQ Dishwasher, providing comprehensive instructions for its safe installation, operation, and maintenance.
Function Description
The Smeg STL362DQ Dishwasher is designed for cleaning household-type dishes and tableware. It operates by automatically adjusting the dishwashing cycle based on the type of load, degree of soil, and amount of dishes in the baskets. The appliance uses water, detergent, and rinse aid to clean and dry items, with various programmes tailored for different soil levels and load types. A key feature is the water softener system, which removes minerals from the water supply to prevent limescale buildup and improve washing results. The appliance also includes a drying phase, with an optional "Dry Assist" function that automatically opens the door to enhance drying performance.
Usage Features
The dishwasher offers a range of programmes and options to suit various needs:
- Programme Selection: Users can choose from several programmes, including:
- Express 50°: A short programme for fresh and lightly soiled loads.
- Soak: For rinsing off food remains and preventing odours, without detergent.
- Full Express 60': For fresh and lightly dried-on soil.
- Mix 60°: For normally soiled items, including a drying phase.
- Intense 60°: For heavily soiled items, also with a drying phase.
- ECO (Eco): The longest programme, offering the most efficient use of energy and water for normal soil. This is the standard programme for test institutes.
- AUTO: This programme automatically adjusts the wash cycle, temperature, water quantity, and duration based on sensors detecting the load type and soil degree.
- Options: Users can activate options to customize programmes:
- Extreme: Improves dishwashing results by increasing wash temperature and duration.
- Crystal: Protects delicate loads, especially glassware, by preventing rapid temperature changes and reducing the wash temperature to 45 °C.
- Detergent and Rinse Aid: The appliance has separate dispensers for detergent and rinse aid. The rinse aid is automatically released during the final rinse to prevent streaks and stains. Users are advised to use regeneration salt for the water softener.
- Water Softener Adjustment: The water softener level can be adjusted according to the local water hardness to ensure optimal washing results and prevent limescale.
- Delay Start: The start of a programme can be delayed from 1 to 24 hours.
- End Sound and Key Tones: Users can activate or deactivate an acoustic signal for programme completion and the click sound of buttons.
- Latest Programme Selection: The appliance can be set to automatically select the most recently used programme and options upon activation.
- Auto Off Function: This energy-saving feature automatically switches off the appliance when a programme is completed or after 5 minutes of inactivity if a programme was not started.
- Loading Baskets: Instructions are provided for optimal loading of dishes, cutlery, and other items in the lower basket, upper basket, and cutlery drawer to ensure thorough cleaning and prevent damage. Hollow items should be placed with openings facing downwards.
Maintenance Features
Regular maintenance is crucial for the dishwasher's performance and longevity:
- Self Clean Programme: A dedicated programme designed to clean the appliance interior, removing limescale and grease buildup. The appliance indicates when this programme is needed.
- Filter Cleaning: The filter system, consisting of three parts (flat filter, filter B, and filter C), should be disassembled and cleaned regularly to prevent poor washing results and damage to the drain pump.
- Spray Arm Cleaning: The lower and ceiling spray arms should be cleaned regularly to prevent soil from clogging the holes, which can lead to unsatisfactory washing results. The upper spray arm should also be checked for clogged openings.
- Internal Cleaning: The appliance interior, including the door and rubber gasket, should be wiped clean with a soft damp cloth and neutral detergents. A cleaning product specifically designed for dishwashers should be used at least once every two months.
- External Cleaning: The appliance exterior should be cleaned with a moist soft cloth and neutral detergents, avoiding abrasive products or solvents.
- Salt Container Refill: The salt container needs to be refilled with regeneration salt when the salt indicator turns on. This is essential for the water softener's operation.
- Rinse Aid Dispenser Refill: The rinse aid dispenser should be refilled when the rinse aid indicator turns on to ensure good drying results.
- Troubleshooting: The manual includes a comprehensive troubleshooting section with possible causes and solutions for common problems, such as the appliance not starting, not filling/draining water, poor washing/drying results, and alarm codes. Users are advised to contact an Authorised Service Centre for issues not resolved by troubleshooting.
