TRAK MODEL 9100 MODULAR FREQUENCY/TIME SYSTEM
TM4400013 E-9 REV. D
Note 3: Attenuation is specified in decibels (dB) per unit length at 1575.42 MHz.
NOTE 4: TRAK will not guarantee the performance of the GPS receiver if minimum or maximum cable
attenuation is exceeded.
2.2 Attenuator
For installations with cable lengths shorter than the minimum cable length in Table 2, an inline attenuator should
be used to maintain the external gain within the limits of the GPS receiver. The attenuator must be designed to
pass the DC voltage from the receiver to the antenna. This type attenuator is available from GPS Networking
Inc. with a specified range of 1 dB to 30 dB attenuation. The attenuation value should be selected to maintain
the antenna system near the optimum gain in front of the GPS receiver. The attenuator is not contained in a
weather proof housing and therefore must be installed in a protected area.
