Carbonating Bottle care varies depending on whether the bottle is "dishwasher safe" or not. For Carbonating Bottles not marked as "dishwasher safe," they should be rinsed with cold or lukewarm water. A critical warning states that these bottles should not be exposed to heat above 50°C and should never be washed or rinsed in hot water or in a dishwasher. For "dishwasher safe" Carbonating Bottles, cleaning can be done either in a dishwasher or by rinsing with cold or lukewarm water. Even for these bottles, a warning advises against exposure to heat above 70°C.
General safety guidelines for Carbonating Bottles include not placing them near heat sources like kitchen ovens/stoves, not leaving them in a car, and not placing them in the freezer or in extreme cold below 1°C. Bottles should not be used if they are damaged, deformed, changed in shape, scratched, worn, or discolored. It is also crucial not to use a Carbonating Bottle after its expiration date. Only Carbonating Bottles specifically designed to work with the SodaStream Jet™ should be used.

The CO2 Cylinder should not be tampered with in any way, including puncturing, incinerating, or removing the valve. It should not be exposed to heat above 120°F / 50°C and should be protected from sunlight, stored in a well-ventilated area. The CO2 Cylinder should not be removed from the Sparkling Water Maker while it is being operated or while it is discharging CO2. In the event of a CO2 leak, the area should be ventilated, fresh air should be breathed, and immediate medical attention sought if feeling unwell.
The user license for the SodaStream CO2 Cylinder clarifies that it remains the property of SodaStream and is provided under license. This ensures that the cylinder is maintained, examined, retested, and refilled by SodaStream to meet safety and health regulations. When empty, the cylinder should be returned to SodaStream or an authorized distributor in exchange for a full cylinder for the price of the gas refill only.
