Overview

The SodaStream Power™ Sparkling Water Maker is an innovative appliance designed to transform ordinary tap water into sparkling water with ease and convenience. This device allows users to customize the level of carbonation, offering a personalized experience for creating refreshing beverages at home. Its primary function is to infuse water with carbon dioxide (CO2) gas, producing effervescent drinks without the need for electricity for the carbonation process itself, though it does require power for its electronic controls and LED indicators.

Function Description

The SodaStream Power™ operates by utilizing a CO2 Cylinder to inject gas into a specially designed Carbonating Bottle filled with water. The process begins with the user filling the Carbonating Bottle with cold water up to a designated fill line. It is crucial to only carbonate water, as other liquids can contaminate internal parts, potentially leading to excessive pressure, bottle failure, and serious injury. Flavoring should never be added before carbonation.

Once the bottle is filled, it is inserted into the Sparkling Water Maker's Snap-Lock mechanism. The device features a carbonating tube that extends into the bottle, through which CO2 gas is dispensed. The Snap-Lock mechanism securely holds the bottle in place during carbonation, preventing accidental dislodgement.

The SodaStream Power™ offers three distinct carbonation levels, controlled by illuminated buttons on the device. For a 1L Carbonating Bottle, the left button provides light fizz, the middle button delivers medium fizz, and the right button produces strong fizz. When using a 0.5L Carbonating Bottle, the left button yields medium fizz, and the middle button results in strong fizz. These options allow users to tailor their sparkling water to their preferred level of effervescence. The buttons light up when a Carbonating Bottle is attached, and if the machine is idle for 60 seconds, the lights will turn off, reactivating upon any button press.

After the desired carbonation level is achieved, the user gently pulls the Carbonating Bottle forward until it reaches its fully forward position. This action releases any excess CO2 pressure from the bottle, a critical safety step before the bottle can be safely removed from the Snap-Lock. It is imperative not to force the bottle out while it is still pressurized, as this can cause uncontrolled ejection and potential injury. If the bottle does not release immediately, waiting a few moments or re-inserting and pulling it forward again is recommended.

The device is powered by an electrical adapter, which connects to a wall outlet. The buttons on the machine light up once connected, indicating it is ready for use. Only an original SodaStream power adapter should be used to prevent damage to the machine.

Usage Features

The SodaStream Power™ is designed for straightforward and safe operation. Key usage features include:

  • Easy CO2 Cylinder Installation: The CO2 Cylinder is inserted into the back of the Sparkling Water Maker after removing the back cover. It is tilted forward and then tightened by turning to the right until it is firmly held in place. Crucially, the cylinder should only be hand-tightened, and no tools should be used, as this can damage the machine or cylinder, leading to uncontrolled gas flow and potential injury. The back cover is then reinstalled. A critical safety warning emphasizes that the CO2 Cylinder should never be inserted or replaced while a Carbonating Bottle is installed in the machine, as this can cause the bottle to be ejected or burst.
  • Snap-Lock Bottle Mechanism: This feature simplifies the process of attaching and detaching the Carbonating Bottle. Users simply insert the bottle neck into the Snap-Lock and push it up and back until it clicks into place. This secure fit ensures stability during carbonation.
  • LED Carbonation Indicator: The illuminated buttons serve as a visual indicator of the carbonation process and selected fizz level, enhancing user interaction and control.
  • Compatibility with Specific Bottles: The SodaStream Power™ is compatible with SodaStream reusable Carbonating Bottles, including 1L Fuse, 1L Classic, and 0.5L Fuse bottles. It is essential to use only these specifically designed bottles, as using incompatible or damaged bottles can lead to failure, personal injury, and property damage. The device is explicitly NOT compatible with SodaStream Quick Connect Cylinders, only with SodaStream CO2 Screw System Cylinders.
  • Safety Guidelines: The manual provides extensive safety guidelines, including warnings against carbonating anything other than water, using the machine with a broken carbonating tube, moving the machine or removing the bottle during carbonation, and carbonating an empty bottle. These guidelines are crucial for safe operation and to prevent injury or damage.
  • Property of SodaStream CO2 Cylinders: The CO2 Cylinders remain the property of SodaStream and are provided under license. This ensures that only SodaStream or authorized distributors refill them, guaranteeing safety and compliance with regulations. Unauthorized refilling is risky and may violate laws. Users are entitled to exchange empty cylinders for full ones at the cost of the gas refill.

Maintenance Features

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of the SodaStream Power™ and its components.

  • Sparkling Water Maker Care: The exterior of the Sparkling Water Maker should be cleaned with a mild liquid dish soap and a soft, damp cloth. Abrasive cleaners or sharp tools should never be used, as they can damage the surface. Spills should be wiped immediately to keep the base dry. The machine should never be placed in water or washed in a dishwasher, as this will cause severe damage.
  • Carbonating Bottle Care: For Carbonating Bottles not marked as "dishwasher safe," cleaning involves rinsing with cold or lukewarm water. These bottles must not be exposed to heat above 50°C (120°F) and should never be washed or rinsed in hot water or in a dishwasher. For "dishwasher safe" Carbonating Bottles, cleaning can be done in a dishwasher or by rinsing with cold or lukewarm water. These bottles should not be exposed to heat above 70°C (158°F).
  • CO2 Cylinder Handling: CO2 Cylinders should be inspected for damage (dents, punctures) before use. Damaged cylinders should not be used, and a SodaStream-authorized service representative should be contacted. Cylinders should not be tampered with, punctured, incinerated, or have their valves removed. They must be protected from direct sunlight and stored in a well-ventilated area, away from heat above 50°C (120°F). Cylinders should not be removed or handled while the machine is operating or discharging CO2. In case of a CO2 leak, the area should be ventilated, and fresh air should be sought.
  • Bottle Expiration: Carbonating Bottles have an expiration date and should not be used beyond it, as their structural integrity may degrade over time, increasing the risk of failure. Users should also avoid using damaged, deformed, scratched, worn, or discolored bottles.
  • Power Adapter Care: Only the power adapter and lead supplied with the SodaStream Power™ should be used. If the power adapter is damaged, a replacement should be obtained from SodaStream Customer Service. The cord, plug, or machine should not be placed in water or any liquid, and the machine should not be operated with a damaged cord or plug. The cord should not hang over table edges or touch hot surfaces, and the device should not be used outdoors.
  • Recycling: Expired and damaged Carbonating Bottles should be recycled according to local laws. The packaging materials are also recyclable, and users are encouraged to contact local authorities for recycling information.

The SodaStream Power™ Sparkling Water Maker provides a convenient, customizable, and environmentally friendly way to enjoy sparkling water at home, emphasizing user safety and product longevity through clear usage and maintenance guidelines.
