Do you have a question about the SODECA CJTHT-40-2/4T-1,5 and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

This document describes the CJTHT, CJTHT/ATEX, and CJTHT/PLUS series of axial extraction units manufactured by SODECA. These units are designed for various ventilation applications, with specific models tailored for ATEX certified environments and those requiring reduced noise levels.

Function Description

The CJTHT series consists of axial extraction units housed in a soundproofed box, designed for smoke extraction at high temperatures (400°C/2h and 300°C/2h). The CJTHT/ATEX models are specifically certified for use in potentially explosive atmospheres, while the CJTHT/PLUS models integrate a built-in noise reducer for quieter operation. The primary function of these devices is to move air, typically for extraction purposes, in industrial, commercial, or residential settings where robust and reliable ventilation is required, especially in emergency situations involving smoke.

Important Technical Specifications

The fans are designed to operate continuously (S1) in temperatures ranging from -20°C to +40°C, with some models suitable for hot climates up to 50°C. They also have a smoke extraction rating (S2) of 300°C/2h and 400°C/2h.

The manual provides extensive tables detailing various models with their respective technical specifications, including:

  • Model: Specific identifier for each fan variant.
  • Speed (r/min): Rotational speed of the impeller.
  • Maximum Admissible Current (A): Current draw at 230V, 400V, and 690V.
  • Max. Electric Power (kW): Electrical power consumption.
  • Tilting Angle Blades (°): The angle of the impeller blades, which can influence airflow and pressure.
  • Maximum Airflow (m³/h): The volume of air the fan can move per hour.
  • Radiant Noise Level (dB(A)): Noise generated by the fan.
  • Approx. Weight (Kg): The approximate weight of the unit.

For example, a CJTHT-90-4T-5,5/PLUS model operates at 1440 r/min, draws 8.40A at 400V, consumes 4.00 kW, has a blade tilting angle of 12°, provides a maximum airflow of 38900 m³/h, generates 84 dB(A) of noise, and weighs approximately 142 kg.

It is crucial to note that CJTHT and CJTHT/PLUS models are not suitable for use in explosive environments. Only CJTHT/ATEX models are certified for such applications.

Usage Features

Installation: Installation must be carried out by a qualified technician familiar with this type of equipment.

  • Mechanical: The unit must be firmly fixed to ensure safe operation. Contact with the fan's impeller must be prevented using grilles or accessories, or by installing a connecting tube of adequate length. Sufficient space must be provided for opening the hatch cover. Elbows should not be connected close to the equipment's flanges. When connecting ducts, ensure the airflow direction matches the arrows on the unit. After mechanical assembly, verify that the impeller rotates freely without friction. If condensation is possible, external preventive measures must be taken. The duct system's weight must not be supported by the equipment.
  • Electrical: Connect the unit to the power source according to the wiring diagram (Fig. 4) and the connection box cover. A special fire-certified cable of appropriate cross-section must be used for the electrical supply. The electrical characteristics on the nameplate must match the power supply. An external protective component (relay, magneto-thermal protection, or fuse) must be connected. The equipment must be earthed. If motor speed control is used, ensure proper motor operation.
  • Start-up: After starting, check for correct motor rotation, absence of vibrations, and unusual noises. Verify that the actual power consumption does not exceed the label's stated value and that the motor does not overheat. Avoid intermittent switching on/off, as this can damage the motor winding or insulation due to overheating.

General Information: Always check the received products for damage upon unpacking. Damaged products must never be installed. The equipment should only be used for its intended purpose and under the conditions described in the manual. Any defects or malfunctions must be reported to the authorized representative. Before operation, users must read the safety and installation instructions, and for ATEX models, the "General Specifications for ATEX Fans" document.

Safety: Users must not disassemble or modify the equipment. Fingers or objects must not be inserted into protective grilles. In such an event, immediately disconnect power. Never use a damaged power cable. Do not operate the equipment if it is forcibly installed on a curved or unstable surface. Before any inspection or maintenance, ensure the equipment is disconnected from the electrical supply, the safety switch is locked, and all components are at rest. The equipment must not be operated unless properly installed and protected at the inlet and outlet.

Maintenance Features

Maintenance should only be performed by qualified technicians.

  • Bearings: The bearings are greased and sealed for life. However, it is recommended to replace them after approximately 20,000 hours of effective running time.
  • Impeller Cleaning: If the fan is not equipped with an air filter, the only required maintenance is cleaning the impeller, which should be done at least every six months. Care must be taken during cleaning to avoid affecting its balance.
  • Cleaning Agents: Chemical cleaners or aggressive substances are not recommended as they could damage the equipment.
  • Parts Replacement: If any part needs to be replaced, consult the distributor.

Disposal: Improper disposal of the equipment can cause contamination. The disposal process must comply with the applicable standards and regulations in the country.

Warranty: Incorrect use of the equipment or failure to follow the instructions in this manual will void the warranty.
