Operating Instructions
General
The Solcrafte system only oers unlimited performance when installed in frost-free zones. If the temperature falls below 0°C under certain
circumstances (min. -5°C), the Solcrafte system must be protected and/or drained and covered. In frost zones where the Solcrafte system
is not drained, an additional optional anti freeze element (200 W) must be used. The use of a heating element (1 kW/2 kW) will not protect
the system from frost damage. Appropriate insulation or pipe heat tracing must be provided on-site to prevent hot and cold water pipes
from freezing. A thermal mixer, at which the required water temperature can be set, must always be installed at the hot water outlet. The
safety valve provided must be installed at the cold water connection of the Solcrafte system to limit positive pressure in the water circuit.
OperatingandFillingInstructions
The Solcrafte system is delivered with a protective lm on the glass. This lm must not be removed until after the system has been lled to
avoid damaging the components when empty as a result of potential development of heat. Remove the protective lm after the system
has been lled, as it serves no other purpose. It is recommended that the system be lled within 2 weeks after installation, as otherwise
residue from the lm may adhere to the glass. Filling and ushing must be repeated until it is sure that all air has been removed from the
system. The maximum operating pressure stated on the type plate or in the installation instructions must not be exceeded. Check to en-
sure that all safety components have been installed in accordance with the hydraulic diagram (in the chapter "Hydraulic Connection" in
this manual) in the installation instructions before the water supply is opened and the tank is lled prior to commissioning the system. It is
recommended that the water not be used as drinking water for two weeks after the system has been lled for the rst time.
InstructionsonMaintenance/DrainingtheSystem
The Solcrafte system must be visually inspected for any damage, leakage and soiling annually; we recommend annual maintenance by
a qualied specialist rm. For maintenance or repair work on the Solcrafte system that requires the water content to be drained o, the
entire system must be covered by a light-reective cloth or foil to prevent damage by possible heat development.
InstructionsonUsingtheHeatingElement/AntiFreezeElement
(NotIncludedinScopeofDelivery)
Only the heating element /anti freeze element prescribed by the manufacturer may be used in order to avoid damaging or destroying the
Solcrafte system. The level of calcication on the heating element / anti freeze element must be checked at regular intervals. The heating
element / anti freeze element must be descaled or replaced as required.
Two types of thermal resistors are available as optional elements:
– Anti freeze element (200 W)
– Heating element (1 kW/2 kW)
IncreasingEciency
To increase the eciency of the Solcrafte system, observe the following:
– Use hot water in the evening, if possible (e.g. showering)
– Only use a time switch (incl. night switch-o) in combination with the optional heating element, not with the Anti Freeze Element
OperatingPressure
The maximum operating pressure in the water circuit may not exceed 4bar and a pressure reducer must be installed if necessary.
