Stereo Cassette Player

Auto-Reverse Function

Precautions

Temperature Precautions

Allow unit to cool if car parked in direct sunlight causing high temperatures.

Power Supply Check

Check connections and fuse if no power is supplied to the unit.

Cassette Usage Note

Use of cassettes longer than 90 minutes is not recommended except for long playback.

Location and Function of Controls

Dolby NR Switch and Indicator

Switch for Dolby NR processed tapes; indicator lights up when active.

AMS Button and Indicator

Button to locate selection beginnings; indicator blinks during search.

Tape Direction Indicator

Indicates the current tape direction.

METAL Indicator

Lights up for TYPE II (CrO2) or TYPE IV (metal) tapes.

Playback Button

Button to start tape playback.

Stop Button

Button to stop tape playback.

Open/Close Button

Button to open or close the cassette compartment.

Direction Mode Button

Button to change tape playback direction mode.

Fast Winding Buttons

Buttons for fast forwarding or rewinding the tape.

Line Outputs

Phono jacks for audio output connection.

Tape Playback Operations

Initiating Playback

Press the open/close button to open the drawer, insert cassette, and press play.

Playing Other Side

Playback automatically continues to the other side upon completion.

Stopping Playback

Press the stop button to halt playback.

Stopping and Opening Compartment

Press the stop button to halt playback and open the cassette compartment.

Cassette Drawer Caution

Insert cassette fully before closing; press open/close again if closed improperly.

Automatic Drawer Closing

Cassette drawer closes automatically after 10 seconds if left open.

Troubleshooting Unit Operation

Turn ignition key OFF and press stop button if the unit does not operate.

Closing the Drawer

Press the open/close button to close the drawer; do not force it.

Opening/Closing Drawer Issues

Press the open/close button again if the drawer does not open or close.

Direction Mode Indicators

Table shows indicator direction for upper and lower cassette sides.

Locating Selections

Use AMS to locate beginnings of selections on the upper or lower side.

Advancing and Resuming Tape

Advance tape or resume playback after rewinding using specific buttons.

Selection Location Errors

Selection may not be found due to noise, short spaces, or quiet passages.
