This document provides assembly instructions and important safety warnings for the Sorelle Farmhouse Room In a Box, which includes a crib, a changing table, and a clothing organizer (dresser).
The crib is designed for infants and young children, offering a safe sleeping environment. It features an adjustable mattress support, allowing parents to set it at a higher position for easier access to a newborn and then lower it as the child grows and becomes able to pull to a standing position. The lowest mattress position is crucial to prevent climbing out and potential falls. The crib is designed to be sturdy, with various components like a headboard, footboard, left and right ends, and a mattress support. Assembly involves attaching these parts using specific bolts, barrel nuts, and wood dowels, tightened with an Allen key.
Numerous warnings are provided to ensure the safe use of the crib. These include strict instructions against using soft bedding, pillows, or comforters that could lead to suffocation. Parents are advised to place infants on their backs to sleep to reduce the risk of SIDS. The crib emphasizes preventing strangulation hazards by warning against placing items with strings around a child's neck, suspending strings over the crib, or attaching strings to toys. All fasteners must be securely tightened to prevent body parts or clothing from getting trapped. The crib should not be placed near windows or patio doors where cords from blinds or drapes could pose a strangulation risk.
For fall prevention, the mattress must be set to the lowest position once the child can stand. Bumper pads, large toys, and other objects that could serve as steps should be removed. The crib should no longer be used when a child begins to climb out or reaches a height of 35 inches (89 cm), at which point the child should transition to a youth or regular bed. Regular checks for damaged hardware, loose joints, bolts, missing parts, or sharp edges are essential before and after assembly and frequently during use. Only replacement parts from C&T International Inc./Sorelle should be used. The crib is not designed for safe sleep on changing tables or as a bassinet/changing table accessory that extends over the sleeping area.
The crib offers optional conversion to a toddler bed and a full-size bed. The toddler bed conversion requires a separate 148# Toddler Rail System, which is not included with the initial purchase. This conversion involves loosening Allen bolts on the front frame and installing a guard rail and bottom rail. Similarly, the full-size bed conversion requires a 221# Adult Rail System, also sold separately. These conversion options extend the lifespan and utility of the furniture as the child grows.
The changing table is designed for diaper changes and is suitable for children up to 30 lbs. It consists of left and right side frames, a back top rail, a front top rail, connect rails, a top shelf, and additional shelves. Assembly involves attaching these components using Allen bolts, nuts, washers, and a safety belt. The changing table comes with a pad that must be secured to the surface using a strap.
Safety warnings for the changing table primarily focus on preventing falls and suffocation. Falls can happen quickly, so children must always be kept within arm's reach. The changing table is not designed for safe sleep, and children should never be left to sleep on it or unattended. It is crucial to follow all assembly instructions precisely and not use the changing table if it is damaged or broken. A wall strap kit is provided and must be used to secure the changing table to the wall, preventing tip-over. The safety belt is used to secure the child safely during changes, and instructions are provided for both fastening and releasing the buckle.
The clothing organizer is a multi-drawer dresser designed for storing clothes and other items. It includes left and right end frames, drawer support bars, dresser top support bars, a top panel, back panels, drawer back panels, drawer side panels, drawer front panels, and drawer bottom panels. Assembly involves constructing the main frame using Allen bolts and then assembling the drawers. Each drawer consists of side, front, back, and bottom panels, with cam locks and handles for operation. Drawer stoppers are included to prevent drawers from being pulled out completely. Plastic feet are provided for the base of the organizer.
The clothing organizer includes critical warnings about preventing serious or fatal crushing injuries from furniture tip-over. To mitigate this risk, users are advised to place the heaviest items in the lowest drawers. TVs or other heavy objects should not be placed on top of the dresser unless it is specifically designed to accommodate them. Children should never be allowed to climb or hang on drawers, doors, or shelves. Only one drawer should be opened at a time, or the drawer interlock system should not be defeated or removed. A tip-over restraint (wall strap kit) is provided and must be used to secure the unit to the wall. This involves screwing a fixing plastic to the back of the unit and another to the wall, then connecting them with a plastic strap. While tip-over restraints reduce the risk, they do not eliminate it.
The manual provides general notes on assembly, use, care, and maintenance for all furniture pieces. During assembly, it is important to check screw and bolt sizes against the diagrams and perform assembly on a soft, non-abrasive surface to prevent damage to the finish. For use, children should not be allowed to play on, climb on, or hang from any piece of furniture, and their activity in the nursery should always be monitored.
For care and maintenance, users are advised not to scratch or chip the finish. Products should be inspected periodically, and C&T International Inc. should be contacted for replacement parts or questions. Furniture should not be stored in extreme temperatures or conditions (hot attic, damp/cold basement) as these can cause a loss of structural integrity. To preserve the finish, a doily or felt pad should be placed under items on the furniture. Cleaning should be done with a damp cloth followed by a dry cloth; abrasive chemicals or direct spray cleaners should not be used. When moving furniture on carpeting, it should be lifted slightly to prevent leg breakage. Using a vaporizer near wood furniture can cause the wood to swell and the finish to peel.
For the crib, any mattress used must be at least 27 1/4" (69 cm) wide and 51 5/8" (131 cm) long, with a thickness not exceeding 6" (15 cm). For the toddler bed, the mattress must be a full-size crib mattress, at least 51 5/8 in (1310mm) in length, 27 1/4 in (690mm) in width and 4 in (100mm) in thickness. The mattress thickness must not exceed 6 in (150mm). These specifications are crucial to avoid dangerous gaps that could entrap a child.
