2.
Install
an
H- 1000B
swinging
bucket
rotor onto
the drive
spindle.
Be
sure
that
all
bucket trunnions
are
cleaned
and well lubricated and
that all
four
buckets
swing
freely on
rotor
trunnions.
Place tube carriers into rotor buckets.
3.
Remove
two
opposing
buckets
from
rotor,
with
carriers
installed, and
place
onto
a scale.
4.
Prepare
three
(3)
test tubes of
varying
levels
of
water:
a.
Fill
one
tube
full
of water and mark
the tube with
a
"O".
Place
the
tube,
filled
with
water into
one
bucket
carrier.
This
tube
will
be
used
as a
"reference"
tube.
b.
Fill
a
second tube
with
less water
than the
"reference"
tube and
place
into
the
opposite
bucket
carrier
so
that the
net
difference in
weight between
the
two
buckets
equal
19
grams.
Mark the
second
tube with
a
"19".
This
tube
will
be
used
as
the
"pass"
tube.
c.
Fill
a
third
tube
with
two
(2)
grams
more
water
than the
"pass"
tube.
Mark the
third
tube
with
a
"21".
This
tube
will
be
used
as
the
"fail"
tube.
5.
Place
both
buckets and carriers
back
onto
the
rotor in
the
chamber.
6.
Place the
"reference"
tube into
one
bucket
carrier
and the
"fail"
tube in the
opposite
bucket
carrier.
Close and lock the
door.
NOTE
To
ensure
that the circuit
can
be calibrated,
the
gap
setting must be
pre¬
tested.
Follow
steps
7
through
16
to pre-test
the
gap
setting,
then
continue
the
calibration
with
step
17.
7.
Adjust
R-18
to
read +4.0
Vdc
at
I.C.
Zl
pin 6.
The
+4.0
Vdc
should
cause
the
imbalance circuit
to
"trip"
with
the
"fail"
tube
installed.
8.
Set the
speed
control
knob
to
3200
rpm
setting.
9.
Set the timer control knob to
the
"HOLD"
position
to
start
the
centrifuge.
The
rotor
should
begin accelerating
towards
3200
rpm.
NOTE
The
FAULT LED
indicator
on
the
front console
should illuminate
as
the
rotor
accelerates between
500
rpm
and
1000
rpm.
10.
If
the
rotor
speed
exceeds
1500
rpm,
stop
the
run
in
progress by
turning
the
speed
control
knob
to
off.
If
the
circuit
did
not
"trip"
at
the
+4.0
Vdc
limit, remove
the
rotor
and
regap
the
set
screw
by
turning
it 1
/8 turn clockwise.
Retest
the
gap
setting
again
and
continue adjusting
the
gap
until
the
rotor trips
at
+4.0 Vdc.
