Overview

The soundmaster TR27 is a high-line radio designed for indoor use, featuring a classic aesthetic with a wooden cabinet and a brushed metal front panel. This device offers both FM radio reception and an auxiliary input for connecting external audio sources, making it a versatile audio companion.

Function Description:

The primary function of the TR27 is to provide FM radio reception. Users can tune into their desired stations using a large, tactile tuning knob. An integrated power band switch allows for easy selection between FM radio and the auxiliary input mode. A power indicator light confirms the device's operational status. Audio output is delivered through a built-in speaker, and for private listening, a headphone jack is provided. The volume can be adjusted via a dedicated volume control knob. For connecting external audio devices such as smartphones or MP3 players, an AUX IN jack is available. The radio also features a DC jack for power input and an FM antenna for optimizing radio reception.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • FM Frequency Range: 87.5 – 108 MHz
  • Power Consumption: Maximum 9W
  • Power Supply: AC 230V~50Hz
  • Inputs: AUX IN jack, DC 12V IN jack
  • Outputs: PHONES jack
  • Antenna: FM antenna (wire type)

Usage Features:

  1. Power Connection: To operate the TR27, ensure the power cable is securely connected to a power outlet. The device should only be connected to a properly installed and earthed wall outlet, and the mains voltage must match the specifications on the rating plate.
  2. Placement for Reception: For optimal radio reception, place the radio on a flat and open surface. The FM wire antenna can be extended to further improve reception quality.
  3. Mode Selection: Switch on the radio using the power band switch and select between FM radio mode or AUX input mode. The power indicator light will illuminate when the device is on.
  4. Volume Control: Adjust the audio output level by rotating the volume knob.
  5. Tuning: For FM radio, use the large tuning knob to select your desired station.
  6. Auxiliary Input: Connect external audio devices to the AUX IN jack to play audio through the TR27's speaker.
  7. Private Listening: Plug headphones into the PHONES jack for a personal listening experience.
  8. Environmental Considerations: The device is designed for use in dry indoor environments only and should be protected from humidity. It should be installed in a location with sufficient ventilation, ensuring at least 20mm distances around the apparatus. Ventilation openings must not be covered by items such as newspapers, tablecloths, or curtains. The device should not be exposed to direct sunlight or other heat sources, and no naked flame sources (e.g., lighted candles) should be placed on it.
  9. Mains Plug as Disconnect Device: The mains plug serves as the disconnect device for the power input. It should not be obstructed and must be easily accessible during intended use.

Maintenance Features:

  • Cleaning: Clean the device using only a dry cloth. Do NOT use cleaning agents or abrasive cloths, as these can damage the unit.
  • No User-Serviceable Parts: The TR27 does not contain any user-serviceable parts inside. To reduce the risk of electric shock, do not remove the cover or back. All servicing should be referred to qualified service personnel. Opening the enclosure is unsafe and will void the warranty.
  • Mains Cable Care: Ensure the mains cable remains dry during operation and is not pinched or damaged. A damaged mains cable or plug must be replaced immediately by an authorized service center.
  • Lightning Protection: In case of lightning, immediately disconnect the device from the mains supply.
  • Battery Safety (if applicable, though the TR27 is mains-powered): The manual includes general battery safety guidelines, emphasizing the use of mercury and cadmium-free batteries, proper disposal of used batteries as hazardous waste (not with household waste), returning batteries to collection points, keeping batteries away from children, and avoiding exposure to excessive heat. This information is a general safety note and may not directly apply to the TR27's operation as it is a mains-powered device.
  • Environmental Protection: At the end of its life cycle, the product should not be disposed of with normal household waste. It should be returned to a collection point for the recycling of electrical and electronic devices, as indicated by the symbol on the product, user manual, or packaging. The materials are reusable, and proper recycling contributes to environmental protection.
  • Interference Avoidance: Install the device as far away as possible from computers and microwave units to prevent potential disturbance to radio reception.
