5.2 Making a new filament
A new filament can be easily fashioned by wrapping a short length of tungsten wire
around the shank ( the non-threaded portion) of an M8 bolt. Using stout tweezers or
needlenose pliers, take one loop of the wire and bend the ends back, near to where
they cross, to form an “Omega” shape with long leads (about 20 mm)
