Overview

The JETFIRE DI16 is a portable, diesel/kerosene-fired heater designed for safe, efficient, and reliable space heating in industrial settings. It is manufactured in Korea for Spitwater Australia.

Function Description

The heater operates by burning diesel or kerosene fuel to generate heat, which is then expelled as hot air. It features a fan to distribute the heated air and various safety devices to ensure safe operation. The unit is designed for industrial use and requires proper ventilation.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Model: DI16
  • Heat Output: 16.5 kW
  • Pump Pressure: 8.83 BAR
  • Fuel Consumption: 1.37 Kg/H
  • Minimum Room Volume: 145 M³
  • Fuel Supply: Diesel & Kerosene Only
  • Fuel Tank Capacity: 13 L
  • Electrical Supply: 230/1/50 V/~/Hz
  • Connected Load: 70 W
  • Dimensions (without fuel):
    • Length: 550 mm
    • Width: 340 mm
    • Height: 570 mm
  • Weight (without fuel): 13 Kg
  • Fuel Types: Kerosene (viscosity 1.3 cSt) or Diesel (viscosity 1.5 cSt)
  • Internal Shut-Off Temperature: 212°F/100°C ± 10°
  • Reset Temperature: 176°F/80°C ± 10°

Usage Features

  • Operating Elements: The heater includes a Hot Air Outlet, Front Guard, Shell Ring, Shell Supportor, Fuel Tank, Handle, Back Cover, Lamp, Room Temp. Display, Operating Switch, Thermostat Knob, Fuel Cap, Fuel Gauge, and Power Cord.
  • Assembly: The handle needs to be attached to the shell using pre-assembled screws.
  • Starting Operation:
    1. Fill the fuel tank with kerosene/diesel until the fuel gauge indicates "F". Ensure the fuel cap is secure.
    2. Plug the power cord into a 230V power outlet (10A outlet recommended).
    3. Turn the "Thermostat Control Knob" to the desired setting (range: 0°C~40°C).
    4. Push the operating switch to the "ON" position. The power indicator lamp and room temperature display will light up, and the heater will start.
  • Stopping Operation:
    1. Turn the operating switch to the "OFF" position. Combustion will stop, and a cooling cycle (approximately 7 minutes) will begin, indicated by "CC" on the room temperature display.
    2. Once the cooling cycle is complete (fan stops running), it is safe to unplug the heater. Unplugging before the cooling cycle ends may cause overheating, damage, and void the warranty.
  • Extension Cords: If an extension cord is used, it should be at least six feet long. Recommended wire sizes are: 18 AWG for 6-10 feet (1.8-3 meters), 16 AWG for 11-100 feet (3.4-30.4 meters), and 14 AWG for 101-200 feet (30.8-61 meters).
  • Safety Precautions:
    • Always read and understand the manual before operation or maintenance.
    • Position the heater on flat, stable ground in an upright position.
    • Ensure proper ventilation, allowing 96 sq.cm for every 1000W input, divided equally between floor and high levels.
    • Do not operate in basements or below ground.
    • Do not restrict the inlet or outlet.
    • Maintain a clearance of 1m above and behind, and 600mm on the sides, from combustible materials. A guard should be placed 900mm from the outlet.
    • Use only clean, filtered diesel or kerosene. Do not refuel while the heater is running or hot.
    • Always disconnect power before disassembling any part.
    • Do not use in rain or when at risk of being sprayed with water.
    • The appliance must be earthed.
    • Only use the handle to move the heater after it has been operating, as other parts may be hot.
  • Safety Devices:
    • Temperature Limit Control: Automatically turns off the heater if the internal temperature rises to an unsafe level (212°F/100°C ± 10°). Requires service if activated.
    • Electrical System Protection: A fuse on the PCB assembly protects components from damage. Check and replace the fuse if the heater fails.
    • Flame-Out Sensor: A photocell detects the flame in the combustion chamber. If the flame extinguishes, the sensor stops electrical current and shuts off the heater.
    • Shock (Earthquake) Automatic Shut-Off Device: A Tip Over switch shuts off the heater if an earthquake of more than 5 magnitude occurs or if the heater inclines 5-10°.

Maintenance Features

  • General Maintenance (Owner):
    • Every 200 Hrs: Wash the pump filter in kerosene or diesel, check fuel lines for tightness and good condition, drain and flush the fuel tank with clean fuel.
  • General Maintenance (Service Agent):
    • Yearly: Clean the fan blades, clean or replace the nozzle, clean the photoelectric tube.
    • Every 600 Hours: Clean and adjust the ignition plug gap.
  • Important Notes:
    • Always isolate the unit from the electrical supply before any repairs or maintenance.
    • Allow the unit to cool down before maintenance.
    • Do not carry out maintenance not outlined in the manual or make technical modifications.
    • Safety devices are factory-set and sealed; do not tamper with them.
    • Regular servicing by an authorized JETFIRE agent is recommended.
    • Dispose of unused fuel according to local authorities' requirements.
  • Replacing Pump Fuel Filter (Figure K):
    1. Unscrew the filter bottom from the filter top with adjustable pliers.
    2. Remove the filter from the filter top.
    3. Wash the filter in clean kerosene and remove dirt.
    4. Put the filter back in the filter top and tighten the filter bottom firmly.
    5. Reinstall the back cover.
  • Replacing Fuel Filter in Fuel Tank (Figure J):
    1. Pull the fuel line off the fuel filter neck.
    2. Carefully pull the fuel filter off the fuel tank with a hand or flat blade screwdriver.
    3. Wash the filter with clean kerosene and replace it in the tank, then attach the fuel line to the fuel filter neck.
  • Long Term Storage:
    1. Unscrew the fuel cap and remove kerosene/diesel using an approved siphon.
    2. Rinse and swirl a small amount of kerosene inside the fuel tank, then empty it fully.
    3. Replace the fuel cap.
    4. Repack the unit in original shipping material and store in an area free of dust and corrosive vapors.
  • Troubleshooting: The manual provides a detailed troubleshooting guide for common issues, their causes, and remedies, including problems like the heater shutting off, failing to ignite, or unstable flame. For issues not listed or requiring a service agent, stop using the machine and contact JETFIRE service.
