How to fix a STA-RITE MSC-7 Water Pump motor that won't start?
    • E
      Elizabeth CookAug 12, 2025
If your STA-RITE Water Pump motor isn't running, start by checking if the disconnect switch is on. Then, see if a fuse is blown or a circuit breaker has tripped and replace the fuse or reset the breaker if needed. Also, the starting switch might be defective, in this case disconnect the power and replace the starting switch. Loose, disconnected, or incorrectly wired wires at the motor could also be the cause; disconnect the power and check and tighten all wiring. Lastly, dirty pressure switch contacts can prevent the motor from running; disconnect the power and file the contacts with an emery board or nail file.

Why am I getting air spurts from the faucets with my STA-RITE MSC-7?
    • E
      Erika CareyAug 22, 2025
If you're experiencing air spurts from your faucets with your STA-RITE Water Pump, it could be due to several reasons. The pump might be picking up prime; when it has picked up prime, it should pump solid water with no air. There could be a leak in the suction side of the pump; check joints for leaks with soapy water. The well itself might be gaseous; consult the factory about installing a sleeve in the well. Or, intermittent over-pumping of the well might be occurring, where water is drawn down below the foot valve; lower the foot valve if possible, otherwise restrict pump discharge.

Why is my STA-RITE Water Pump not delivering water to full capacity?
    • R
      Raymond ThomasAug 27, 2025
If your STA-RITE Water Pump isn't delivering water to its full capacity, it could be because the water level in the well is lower than estimated; a deep well jet may be needed if your well depth to water is more than 25’ (7.6M). If you're using steel piping, it might be corroded or limed, causing excess friction; replace it with plastic pipe where possible, or with new steel pipe. Also, the offset piping might be too small in size; use larger offset piping.

Why does my STA-RITE MSC-7 Water Pump motor run hot and the overload keeps tripping?
    • F
      Frederick MaldonadoSep 1, 2025
If your STA-RITE Water Pump motor runs hot and the overload kicks off, it could be due to a few reasons. The motor might be wired incorrectly; refer to the wiring instructions. The voltage could be too low; check with the power company. Also, the pump might be cycling too frequently; see the section on too frequent cycling.

Why does my STA-RITE Water Pump keep cycling on and off?
    • M
      mdeleonNov 6, 2025
Your STA-RITE Water Pump might be cycling too frequently due to several reasons. The pressure switch may be out of adjustment or have welded contacts—disconnect power and adjust or replace it. Faucets might be left open, so ensure they are closed. A clogged venturi, nozzle, or impeller can also cause this, so clean them. The water level in the well could be lower than estimated; consider a deep well jet pump. A waterlogged standard pressure tank without an air cushion can also be the issue, so drain the tank to the air volume control port. Check all connections for air leaks, and replace any leaking foot valves. Finally, the air charge in a pre-charged tank might be too low. Use a tire pressure gauge to check the air pressure at the valve stem. If it's less than the pressure switch cut-in ...

What to do if my STA-RITE Water Pump motor runs but no water comes out?
    • J
      Jordan HermanNov 16, 2025
If your STA-RITE Water Pump motor runs but no water is delivered, the pump in a new installation might not have picked up its prime; re-prime it according to the instructions. Check all connections on the suction line, AVC, and ejector for air leaks using soapy water or shaving cream. A leaking foot valve or check valve can also be the problem, so replace them if necessary. The pump might have lost prime through air leaks or the water level being below the suction pipe inlet; check all connections on the suction line and shaft seal. Ensure the foot valve or strainer isn't plugged by cleaning it. Also, check if the ejector or impeller is plugged and clean them. A stuck check valve or foot valve can prevent water delivery, so replace them if needed. Frozen pipes can also stop water flow, so ...
