Starting 
Before starting 
your saw, 
make 
sure you 
have 
a 
firm foot- 
hold  and  check  that  the 
saw 
chain 
is  not  touching  the 
ground or any  other obstacles. Bystanders  must be kept 
well  clear of the general  work 
area  of the  saw. 
See  "Master Control" for full  description of its functions. 
1.  Preparations 
1.1  Engage 
the  chain brake by pushing  the hand guard (1) 
towards the bar 
nose. 
Note: You will  hear a 
definite click when the 
brake 
en- 
gages. 
1.2 Adjust controls 
If the engine is  cold: Press down throttle trigger inter- 
lock (2)  and  move  Master Control  lever  (3)  to H (Cold 
Start). 
If  engine  is warm:  Press 
down  throttle  trigger  inter- 
lock (2)  and 
move 
Master Control  lever (3) 
to N 
(Warm 
Start). 
Note: Also  select this  position  if engine has  been  run- 
ning 
but 
is still  cold.
