How to start a Stihl Lawn Mower if the engine cannot be started?
    • M
      Michael MarquezJul 25, 2025
If the Stihl Lawn Mower engine won't start, make sure the control bar for mowing is pressed. If it is not the reason, check the fuel level and refuel if necessary. Also, ensure you're using fresh, good-quality unleaded petrol. The engine won't start if the resistance at the blade is too great, so set a higher cutting height or start the engine in lower grass.

Why won't my Stihl RM 253 T engine start?
    • J
      Jason PetersenAug 2, 2025
If the Stihl Lawn Mower engine won't start, make sure the control bar for mowing is pressed. Refer to the instruction manual for the correct starting procedure. Also, check if the fuel tank is empty and refuel if needed. Other potential causes include a blocked fuel line (consult a STIHL specialist dealer), inferior, dirty, or old fuel (use fresh, good-quality unleaded petrol), a dirty air filter (consult a STIHL specialist dealer), a detached spark plug socket (connect the spark plug socket and check the connection), a dirty, damaged spark plug, or incorrect electrode gap (clean or replace the spark plug and adjust the electrode gap). Finally, too much resistance at the blade may prevent starting (set a higher cutting height and start in lower grass).

Why is my Stihl Lawn Mower engine difficult to start or losing power?
    • E
      ericfergusonAug 9, 2025
If your Stihl Lawn Mower's engine is hard to start or its power is declining, start by cleaning the lawn mower housing. Adjust the cutting height or mow more slowly. Also, empty the fuel tank and clean the fuel line and carburettor. Clean or replace the spark plug. Ensure the engine oil level is correct, adding or changing oil if needed, and clean the cooling ribs.

What to do if my Stihl RM 253 T vibrates excessively?
    • S
      Steven MullinsAug 17, 2025
Excessive vibration in your Stihl Lawn Mower can be due to a damaged blade (replace the blade) or a blade that is not correctly attached (attach the blade properly).
