14. Loosen the other three other bolts and repeat Steps 11., 12., and 13.
at each bolt, adjusting each bolt to meet the final goal.
FINAL
GOAL:
The dial readings at all four points should be within
+/- .001 in. of equal as the spindle rotates.
and
The gap between the two clamp rings at each of the
four points must be between .030 in. and .060 in.
Note: You may have to go back and forth among the bolts, repeating
the adjustments until the final goal is met.
15. When the final goal has been met, tighten the eight set screws to just
snug by rotating them clockwise.
CAUTION: Overtightening will stretch the top clamp ring.
Tighten each set screw equally, moving back and forth among them to
minimize stretch.
16. Recheck with the indicator and feeler gauge again to confirm that the
final goal continues to be met.
If needed, readjust:
a. Loosen and retighten the eight set screws alternately until the final
goal is met.
b. When the set screws are firm and the final goal is still met, tighten
the eight jam nuts to firm.
c. Recheck once more to be sure the final goal is still met.
If the final goal is not met, repeat the entire adjustment.
If the final goal continues to be met, go on to When Satisfactory
Adjustment Is Achieved, below.
D. WHEN SATISFACTORY ADJUSTMENT IS ACHIEVED
1. Remove the dial indicator.
2. Close all doors.
3. Following procedures detailed in the Operator Functions chapter of the
6DS-SP Operations manual, rehome the machine.
