8. Gently loosen the bolts just enough to remove the shims.
9. Reinstall the dial indicator as above with the stylus registering off the
bottom surface of the vacuum chuck
1/8 in. from the edge of the outer diameter of the vacuum chuck.
10. Manually rotate the spindle and check the adjustment by repeating Step
B. 7., above.
a. If the adjustment meets the goal, skip to Section D., When
Satisfactory Adjustment Is Achieved, below.
b. If the adjustment does not meet the goal, go to Step 11.,
immediately below, to make further corrections.
11. Manually rotate the spindle to a position nearest the bolt registering the
lowest measurement.
12. While watching the dial indicator, rotate the bolt clockwise until the
indicator reads within +/- .001 in. of the readings at the other three
points.
GOAL: The dial readings should be within +/- .001 in. of equal
as the spindle rotates.
13. Using a feeler gauge, measure the gap at the bolt between the two clamp
rings.
GOAL: The gap between the two clamp rings at the bolt must
be between .030 in. and .060 in.
a. If the measurement meets the goal, skip to When Satisfactory
Adjustment Is Achieved, below.
b. If the measurement does not meet the goal, go to Step 14.,
immediately below, to make further corrections.
