7. Read the indicator at four equidistant points during the rotation. Record
the readings:
Point 1 ____ Point 2 ____ Point 3 ____ Point 4 ____
GOAL: The dial readings should be within +/- .001 in. of equal
as the spindle rotates.
a. If the readings meet the +/- .001 requirement, skip to Section D.,
below.
b. If not, follow the procedures below to adjust the alignment.
C. ALIGNMENT PROCEDURE
1. Select Right Spindle Speed and enter 0 to stop the spindle.
2. Open the operator doors.
3. Remove the indicator from the spindle.
4. Locate the four 3/8-in. socket head bolts mounted vertically inside the
spindle clamp rings.
Each bolt is secured by two 5/16-in. set screw and jam nut pairs.
5. Loosen the four bolts and the eight set screw/jam nut pairs:
a. Using a 1/2-in. open end wrench, loosen all eight jam nuts by
rotating them counterclockwise.
b. Using a 5/32-in. hex key, loosen all eight set screws by rotating
them counterclockwise.
c. Using a 1/4-in. hex key, loosen the four socket head bolts by
rotating them counterclockwise.
6. Install the four .060-in. stainless steel shims:
• Slip a shim between the clamp rings and adjacent to each socket
head bolt.
7. Tighten the four socket head bolts down to snug on the shims by
rotating them clockwise.
